  • Friendly West Sussex campsite with handy indoor space
  • A 10-minute drive from Selsey and Chichester
  • Indoor 'beach' area with sandpit, books and games
Find your new happy place at Creative Camping, an aptly named campsite close to the West Sussex coastline. Located midway between Selsey on the coast and the historic city of Chichester, this laidback spot is a top pick for families and friends looking for a getaway somewhere just that little bit different. As well as the well-maintained pitches and green outdoor area, Creative Camping has a spacious indoor area for guests to enjoy. Come and relax on the indoor 'beach', sit back on one of the comfy chairs, let the kids play in the sandpit or take your pick of the games and books on offer. The indoor space also has a lounge and dining area, a kitchen with sinks, two toilets, two showers, a changing room and a baby changing table. When you spend time outside, you'll appreciate the site's quiet location away from the road and the natural feel of the place – sit back and relax and it's quite likely that you'll see birds of prey flying overhead. Dogs are welcome here and there's easy access to footpaths in the local area for their walks. The sensible use of open fires and barbecues is allowed, and guests can make use of the site's big barbecue and pizza oven. Handily, Sidlesham village centre, where there is a pub, is about a quarter of a mile away to the north.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We had a fantastic time staying here! The pitches were a great size, we had a large tent, a gazebo and had ample space remaining! The onsite facilities, showers and toilets were kept well and clean. The showers were lovely and hot! Didn’t use the outdoor showers, but will when we return over the summer! I loved the option of the indoor space, with kettle, microwave, fridge and freezer, such a lovely little touch. This came in handy when the rain hit, and we didn’t want to be stuck in our tent. KYM’s fairy garden she created is just beautiful, the detail she has put into it is amazing. Overall it’s a lovely quirky and peaceful spot to camp, we will be returning!

Disliked: Honestly, I can’t think of anything we disliked!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Creative camping is a lovely place to stay, the owners are so friendly, there was so much for the kids to do and both inside areas are a god send if the weather isn’t great! There’s a pub near by and interesting walks, with beaches and parks a short drive away.

Disliked: The shop could sell milk, but there is a garage very close for this.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The campsite was spacious and had loads of toys for the kids. Really lovely people who run it. Would 100% recommend. They have fire pits and BBQs you can borrow. Lovely communal areas including a massive sandpit for the kids. Close to lovely thing. A really convenient shop just around the corner that sells everything you could possibly need. Logs delivered every night if you need them. Wonderful!!!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The green space - allowed the children to play together without annoying other guests / being worried about cars etc The option of crafts was great - painting a kite and flying it for hours was a highlight ! Different options for washing up / toilets Great to be able to borrow bbq / fire pit / tables and chairs - so many places charge for these extras so it was lovely to be able to enjoy without fear of cost Box of logs great - perfect size for fire pit and dry ! Friendly and helpful owners Large and level pitches

Liked: We've just got back from a couple of nights camping at this campsite and what a little gem! The campsite itself is clean and so family friendly. Lots of things for the kids to do and the owners where just so welcoming. I would definitely return!

Disliked: The pitches where a little to close together but didn't ruin the holiday.

Local attractions

There are all sorts of coastal corners you'll want to explore while in West Sussex, from the wildlife haven wetlands of RSPB Pagham Harbour (five minutes' drive) to the cheerful seafront at Selsey (10 minutes) or the sandy stretches of West Wittering (15 minutes). Slightly further afield, it's easy to get to other maritime spots, whether you fancy a day trip to the seaside resort and pleasure harbour at Littlehampton (30 minutes) or want to walk around the historic dockyards of Portsmouth (30 minutes). Jaunts to the bright lights and vintage shops of Brighton (an hour and 10 minutes) are also on the cards if you fancy a really special day out. There's also much to see and do inland locally, with many of the prettiest parts of the South Downs National Park just a short drive away. While you're in the area, make sure to check out pretty historic country estates like Arundel Castle (25 minutes), and if ancient history's your thing you can make tracks for the mosaics and columns of Fishbourne Roman Palace (15 minutes).
