  • Adults-only camping field in the Peak District National Park
  • Hathersage 1.5 miles away; Ladybower Reservoir 10 minutes' drive
  • Access via a private lane; views over the Hope Valley
Broadhay Farm is a quiet spot accessed via a private lane and a five-bar weighted gate. This well-maintained green camping field is in the Peak District National Park, roughly a mile and a half from the pretty little village of Hathersage and 10 minutes' drive from the southern edge of the Ladybower Reservoir. With spacious grassy pitches, this site is bordered by woodland, further adding to the overall feeling of calm and Broadhay Farm's rural vibes. It's a short walk to the waters of the river Derwent too, while the nearest pub at Leadmill Bridge is about three quarters of a mile away. Hathersage's railway station (a mile) is within easy reach too, as is the village centre with its historic heated swimming pool (a mile and a half from base). There are almost no facilities here, and you'll have to look elsewhere for toilets and showers, making this back to basics Peak District site a top pick for self-sustaining travellers who like a good challenge. Please note that Broadhay Farm is adults-only: guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: My advice if you value your Motorhome DO NOT go to this tree surrounded rough field which looks more like the side of a mountain. There is a reason you have to pay up front to book a stay. I had payed took one look and after spending some time managed to get turned round and found a decent camp a few miles up the road for the same price. If you miss the unsigned turning and go on to far you will be in for the worst Motorhome experience of your life !!! Trust me. £10 a night is over priced for this sight. Band wagon springs to mind if it was free I would not want to take my motorhome there.

From the manager: Please accept our sincere apologies for our picturesque Peak District site , not matching your expectations upon arrival. Our description is accurate as it is a green field site, not 'a rough field that looks like the side of a mountain'. Most of our guests do contact us directly prior to arrival so they can easily be directed to us and then met, just as you were contacted by us via email but clearly did not follow the directions provided by ourselves or from the site directly. Had this been the case, you would not have encountered any difficulty at all. Living in a small hamlet is undoubtedly going to be accompanied by narrower roads and lanes, which should be considered when booking. The farm is a fully working farm so access has never been a problem at all for over 40 years. Pitch up do explore the site as well as approve the photographs uploaded which again, I am afraid to say, you must never have looked at to see our true location. As for paying 'up front', this is the policy which is in place by Pitch Up. I am pleased you found somewhere else to park for the night.
