Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: My husband has been a camper since he was a child and I have been a camper for over a decade. This is the nicest site we have ever been to and we have been to some very nice sites. The views are stunning and the campsite is beautiful. The hosts we the friendliest hosts I've ever had. They had so many little touches, such a poo bags, dog treats, washing up liquid, honest box with sweets and duck food. My daughter managed to forget her shoes. The hosts asked what size she was and offered to go home and see if they had any in her size, which was going above and beyond. The toilet and shower blocks were kept immaculate. We only stayed for 1 night as it was a last minute local trip. We all wanted to stay longer, but couldn't as we stayed on a Saturday and work/school on Monday. Our kids were constantly asking "can we come again next weekend?", "can stay longer next time?", "can we come in the summer holidays?" Needless to say, we will be going back and soon. For us, this is a perfect site for when we get some nice weather and decide to go on a last minute trip as it is only 25 minutes away and will be our new go to for a last minute trip. We will also be having some planned trips there too. I don't often leave reviews, but I had to for this site as it was an absolutely perfect trip and they deserve to be acknowledged.

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: 5 stars is too little for this beautiful site. Newly opened and has everything you can possibly want in a site. The owners are so amazing and available for anything you need. Firepit and wood delivered to your site which you pay for when you book. The views are just Heavenly and the peace and quiet are serenity. The site has ponds with bird life and a beautiful forest. Close to Skipton and beautiful walks. What more can I say..... our new pitch up.

Disliked: That we had to come home after 3 days.

Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: Amazing site, owners are so lovely. The views are spectacular. Facilities are spot on. Roman road is about an hour into Skipton. Take hiking boots as it’s a bit boggy in places. Can’t wait to go back. If you don’t fancy walking back after a few shandy’s you can get an Uber for about £7

Disliked: Dear Pitchup…. Why just because we’re a couple do you insist on an age category? It’s not necessary. I won’t review in future until this is changed but Draughton Heights is beautiful.

Local attractions

Take a ride on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. Bolton Abbey station (10 minutes’ drive) is a recreated 1800s building with a vintage café where you can sample delicious homemade cakes. There is a lively calendar of events at the railway, including afternoon teas, murder mysteries and steam-driving experiences. An Augustinian priory established in the 12th century, Bolton Abbey (15 minutes) now sits in ruins on the River Wharfe, where a series of stepping stones allow you to cross the way workers at the priory used to cross. There is also a bridge for when it’s deemed unsafe to use the stones. The spa town of Ilkley (15 minutes) is overlooked by a vast area of wild moorland, just to the south, which includes features like the Cow and Calf Rocks and the Twelve Apostles Stone Circle. In town, there’s a playground in the Riverside Gardens and a child-friendly nature trail through the Darwin Gardens.
