Liked: Location is great with views of the marina and the canal boats travelling by on the canal. Food in the cafeteria was good hot and well presented and reasonable price. Dogs allowed and doggy was treated to a cooked sausage by the staff which was rather sweet. Staff were friendly on site and informative. Good for overnight stop.
Disliked: For site which caters for a number of people toilets and showers were in short supply unless you count porta loos dotted around. The showers and toilet rear of cafeteria also lacked hand wash and had a distinct bad odour about them.

Liked: Love this site. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and then enjoyed a lovely relaxing evening. The pizza van and bar are great and there was a friendly atmosphere amongst staff and customers. Pizzas also delicious! The site is well organised and in a very pretty spot. We'll be back again soon!

Liked: The owner and staff were so lovely! They made the atmosphere relaxed and friendly and went out of their way to be fun and helpful with the kids! The area is beautiful. You have your own designated space, the grass is cut into areas so each pitch is slightly separate. The tiny pub was cute!
Disliked: The only negative I would say is the onsite cafe was quite expensive. £4 for 2 slices of toast. But that is completely optional of course.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked: The best camp site I’ve ever stayed on! We wanted a weekend break for all the extended family; grandparents, parents and grandchildren and hoped a first attempt at a whole family camping would be a success. It certainly was, thanks to the excellent facilities, tranquil surroundings (apart from the planes, which prompted much plane recognition!) and helpful staff. Our request for pitches together was honoured, a huge space with room for three tents and the ‘gathering’ tent. Easy access to toilets and washing facilities so the children could be independent, safe fields for them to walk and play rounders in, an easy walk to cafe, shop, showers and toilet block. A great pizza truck and barge bar, helpful staff who transported all the gear from cars to pitch so no cars necessary and well maintained mown pathways within lovely wild grass divisions between tent pitches. We all had a super stay at Oakwood and hope to come again soon.
Disliked: Nothing other than planes at nightfall but guess Oakwood can’t do much about them. We quickly got used to the sound.

Liked: Everyone on site was extremely friendly, and they accommodated us turning up with our bikes by giving us somewhere to lock them up. Fantastic breakfast at the cafe in the morning and very private pitching spots. The bar and pizza van were great for the evening

Bell tent
Liked: From the moment we arrived until we left everything was perfect. Firstly the staff were lovely and really helpful when we first arrived and we couldn’t believe how clean and well thought out the site was. The bell tent was clean, really cozy and comfortable and it also had lots of amenities to use like a kettle, camping stove and water container which was a nice bonus. The views around the site were beautiful and lovely walks nearby which was great especially for dogs. I can’t recommend this site enough, thank you for a relaxing break away, we will definitely be back!
