  • Secluded glamping spot close to Ulverston in Cumbria’s Lake District
  • Ulverston 10 minutes’ walk; South Lakes Safari Zoo 10 minutes’ drive
  • Luxury bell tents with kitchen and private bathroom; close to walks
In a peaceful paddock setting in the southern hinterland of the Lake District, Candlewyck is a site that has just a handful of glamping tents. Each is beautifully decorated and well equipped, and each has a private loo and shower facility. Located in seven acres of private land, each bell tent is individually designed to give you that 'home from home' vibe, with a firepit for barbecues, plus indoor and outdoor seating for catching up with family and friends. There are charging points for your devices, tea and coffee on hand, and even a wine cooler and – best of all – proper comfy double beds. Kingsize and single quilts are included, as are pillows, but guests need to bring their own quilt covers, sheets and pillow cases. A small kitchen on site gives you exclusive use of a fridge, kettle, toaster and gas stove. This dog-friendly spot is a 10-minute walk into the pretty market town of Ulverston, where you can pick up essentials and try a couple of artisan beers in the local pubs. Country walks abound for all levels of fitness, while families can walk the length of Bardsea beach (10 minutes’ drive) and splash about in the rockpools. Big-hitting Lake District attractions including Windermere and Bowness are comfortably within an hour’s drive from base camp.
