  • Direct access to the Llanberis Path and the Snowdown Ranger Path
  • Basic facilities including a fridge, freezer, microwave and food van
Looking for a basic camping pitch that can be used as a basecamp for summiting Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)? Enter: Camping in Llanberis, which has direct access to the Llanberis Path and the Snowdon Ranger Path, two routes of varying difficulties which lead to the summit of the tallest mountain in Wales. Suited to the outdoorsy type who doesn’t expect any luxury facilities, this is a back to basics site where the team are happy to hand over some friendly local knowledge and advice. There’s no need to book or find the car parks for Yr Wyddfa here. Plus, the Pen y Pass paths are also easily accessible by car or a Sherpa bus. Camping in Llanberis is just a 10-minute stroll from Llanberis, where there are shops, restaurants, cafés and attractions like the Llanberis Lake Railway. It’s a 25-minute walk from the Snowdon Mountain Railway station for those of you who don’t want to make the dash to the summit. It's also a great basecamp for those attending trail running events like Ultra-Trail Snowdonia and the Snowdon Marathon. The Snowdonia Slate Trail, a long-distance path stretching for 83 miles, is a 15-minute drive away for hikers. Site facilities consist of a toilet block with coin-operated hot showers and washing-up facilities, a fridge, freezer and microwave and phone-charging plugs. There is also a food van on site.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Beautiful views. Facilities good. Great location. Not many gnats / bugs. Pretty chilled campsite. Wonderful campsite.

Disliked: I didn't dislike this but it isn't really flat just as a heads up. We have a car tent and we were fine but heard people comment but I think it's why the views are good so we didn't mind it.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Went as 2x young couples (4 people total). Was nice little campsite with variety of locations to choose from. Great for us doing water sports in electric mountain lake. Nice little reception with shop, toilets, showers, food van and drinking water point.

Disliked: Depending on where you choose to pitch up it can be quite a long (uphill) walk to the toilets in the night.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The campsite was peaceful even as full to capacity as it was. Every post had great campsite etiquette. The views of snowdon are amazing. Hot food served all day from the burger van. Convenience sundries such as eggs milk etc available in reception which is open till 10pm. Late check in available until 10pm too which is great. Has showers and toilet block plus a kitchen with 3 sinks to clean pots in. Dog friendly too.
