Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Location was close to cycle route 11 and National Trust Wicken Fen. Pitch flat and hard standing. We were next to a drain and tap so able to fill and empty water tanks. Good recycling segregation.

Disliked: There is no reception so a sign is left at your pitch with name on. It wasn’t immediately clear where we needed to be as it looked like a car parking bay for the pod. We rang the owner to confirm and he wasn’t the most friendly and seemed surprised it wasn’t clear! There is no dedicated motorhome service point so if we weren’t pitched next to tap not sure what we would have done. We had to disconnect electric from the pod for our unit so unclear what we would have done if the pod had been in use. Toilet block and showers were dirty and very outdated. Only one shower and toilet in men’s and ladies and 2 ladies in a portacabin. The black water point was grim!

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Simplistic setup no fuss with reception and booking in. Had a variety of portable bbq's. Electricity supply was good and good Wifi connectivity.

Disliked: Toilets could do with a more regular clean maybe even have a deep clean once a month.

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Grounds well kept, nice and clean, about 5 min drive to Wicken fen beautiful national trust great walk ! The maids head pub just 5 min drive also nice pub grub

Disliked: Toilets and showers need updating, and the road to the side of park a little noisy but for Campervan which are that end of the park, caravans should be fine !

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked: Pod is very cosy and warm and makes for a fun weekend in spring or autumn when regular camping is still a little chilly. Small friendly site, good location for flat walking and bird spotting

Disliked: Fold out sofa bed is on it last legs and showers/toilets could do with a good scrub

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Plaats voor camper

Disliked: Toewijzing stacaravan. Eigenaar camping was niet eerlijk met toewijzing we hadden betaald voor een stacaravan en kregen een uitgewoonde (nogal kleine), sterk verouderde camper. Heel slecht!! Alleen met bijbetaling konden we in een stacaravan

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: It was okay. Not the greatest camp but the ablution block was clean. Everything you need for the campervan is there. May be a bit rough and ready, but it's good for a nights stop over.

Local attractions

The fenland village of Wicken has a twelve-sided smock mill, open to the public and still working to grind flour. The village is also the site of Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve, a wetland habitat of fenland, farmland, marsh, and reedbeds that's home to birds, insects and plants like reed warblers, kingfishers and owls, dragonflies, damselflies and over a thousand species of moth, and fen violets, spearworts and water lilies. The reserve has a visitor centre, small café and several walking trails. Another walk in the area follows the River Lode to Upware, for meals at the splendidly named Five Miles from Anywhere No Hurry Inn, or you could take a bike ride along the river to Ely or along the Lodes Way across open fen countryside to the National Trust-managed Anglesey Abbey. Signposted Sustrans routes also run to Newmarket and Cambridge if you want to pedal further. For towns and cities, Ely, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge are all under 20 miles from Meadow View Campsite; London is about an hour's train ride away.
