Where you should stay around Aysgarth

  • Aysgarth is rightly well known in walking circles – it’s home to a popular waterfall walk, paths that run along the river Ure and lots of other car-free backcountry trails. And of course, beyond the immediate area are heaps more walks around the rest of the Yorkshire Dales. The weather can be unpredictable in this part of the world, so if you’re spending a day out in the open, it’s always good to know that a warm lodge, a hot shower and a cup of tea are there waiting for you just a few miles away…

  • If you’re a dog person, then it’s highly likely that you’ll want to bring your four-legged friend along to join the rest of the family at your Aysgarth lodge. A quick search for dog-friendly lodges around Aysgarth brings up plenty of options and will show you all the best places to stay with your pup in this part of Yorkshire. Aysgarth Falls is often tipped as one of the best dog walks in Yorkshire, and nearby Hawes is another good bet for the walk to Hardraw Force.

  • Aysgarth is a great location for family holidays too, so bagging a family-friendly lodge in the Aysgarth area could prove a smart move indeed. Head out to farm parks like The Big Sheep and Little Cow to show the kids cute animals up close or take the family to The Forbidden Corner, a kooky theme park full where the focus is on riddles rather than rides. You could also find a lodge site with a play area and let the little ones make their own fun.

  • For some sweet solitude or a cosy couple’s retreat, use our filters to seek out a lodge, pod or hut on an adults-only site far from any over-energetic kids. There are plenty of pubs with open fires in the surrounding countryside, while the upmarket restaurants and cool cocktail bars of Skipton and Harrogate can be reached within about an hour’s drive.

  • There’s no one single time when the Dales look at their best – there’s something equally magical about snow-covered dry stone walls, spring lambs and daffodils, English oaks in golden summer sunshine and the explosion of oranges and yellows that happens here in autumn. Aysgarth is a great year-round destination and many pods and lodges stay open all year, so it's worth putting your dates into our calendar to see what's available in any season.
