Group bookings are here!

Grouping around a VW camperCongratulations to us! Well, congratulations to you, our lovely customers – but we’re pretty ruddy chuffed with ourselves as well. (Modesty has never been one of our failings.)

In response to overwhelming demand (yes really, our customer service team is frazzled), we’ve now added a ‘group bookings’ feature to our search facility, meaning you, our lovely customers, can search for sites to book for up to 30 adults and 30 children at a time. Families on holiday together, school groups, Scout groups, bands of mates on a weekend away, wedding parties and more – book now in a couple of clicks.

And you, our lovely campsite and holiday park owners, can now take these bookings in one fell swoop, rather than having to add them all manually. Aren’t we clever?

Here’s how it all works:

Finding sites for group bookings

On the calendar on the Pitchup.com homepage, enter your party size (not forgetting the ages of any children) and the dates your group wants to go away on and click 'Search'. (Use the filters on the left as usual to find specific accommodation, rules on site, leisure on site etc.)

Click on a likely-looking site: here, we’ve used Cheddar Petruth Paddocks in Somerset, searching for three nights from 5 – 8 June for a group of ten adults. The price comes up as £297. (Less than a tenner per person per night, bargainous.)

However! And this is where we’ve been really rather clever… you won’t be able to book the tipis or shepherd’s hut at this site for a group of ten, as the maximum occupancy for each is five for the tipi and eight for the shepherd’s hut. So change the group of ten to two groups of five, and the shepherd’s hut and both tipis are now available. Make two bookings.

Making multiple bookings

Some sites, like Cheddar Petruth Paddocks on its non-electric grass pitches, allow unlimited number of people per pitch. If that’s the case, you only have to make one booking for all the people in your group (up to 30 adults and 30 children). But if the site you want to book has a 'max. persons' of e.g. six people, you’ll need to make separate bookings. Use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together: the campsite or park will try to grant your request.

Before booking, check the listing page for any group restrictions. These normally appear in a section titled 'Please note'.

Tip

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of six or eight people per pitch, so if you're a large party try breaking your booking down to generate more results. For example, if you're a group of ten, enter five people for your initial search and book two pitches.

Another tip!

Double check before booking if the site or pitch type you want has a 'one unit per pitch' rule, such as the electric grass pitches at Cheddar Petruth: check the pitch type information carefully before making your group booking. You’ll find this in the pitch type info under Max. persons, dimensions and ground type. If additional units (for example, another tent, campervan or touring caravan) do not require additional pitches to be booked, you'll see our handy new 'multiple units allowed per pitch' notice.

Simples! And congratulations to us, and you, our lovely customers, once again. If you have any questions, queries (or praise/compliments) to share, please do share it on our feedback page. All the info here is on each listing, search page, and on the homepage search box under ‘Group booking?’ – just hover over the ? to bring it up.
