Well. You might not know where to start with the top options abounding at luxury sustainable site Swinton Bivouac near Masham in the Yorkshire Dales. Outdoor hot tub – tick. Carefully crafted woodland and hillside accommodation so pretty it'll likely make your eyes water – tick. Meals delivered direct to the door – tick tick and another, very big, tick. All these ticky things are on the bivouac’s rustic site in the Swinton Park Estate, 20,000 acres of spectacular scenery in the Yorkshire Dales, running from the River Ure and market town of Masham in Wensleydale up to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's close to the fably odd Druids’ Temple too, a well-known local landmark and 19th-century folly built by local writer William Danby as his (somewhat optimistic) answer to Stonehenge. Swinton Bivouac’s café also deserves a huge tick: it has a family den underneath leading to a walled garden, views down to the valley from the patio, and is open late on Friday and Saturday nights for meals and drinks. And the sign leading to it says ‘muddy boots welcome’, which is obviously the best type of café ever. Tick…

Cabana 1 habitació (arbreda, jacuzzi, mascotes admeses)

Em va agradar: I’ve been traveling a lot since I was a kid and this was one of the best places I’ve been to. When I think of a lodge in the woods this place is exactly what comes in mind. It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of. The place was extremely clean and tidy. I liked the welcoming gifts on our arrival, such a nice treat. The fairy lights around the beds gave a nice touch to the coziness of the place. I liked the fact that we had to light the fire on our own as it makes the experience much more realistic. The lodge we stayed at was facing the sunrise which was extremely beautiful to wake up to. The hot tub was perfect for the cold weather we arrived at. One thing I was worried about was the bathroom, but it was totally the opposite of what I expected, it’s modernly decorated in a quirky way, although 7 girls shared the bathroom it still smelled good at the end of the stay because of all the good smelling lavender in the bathroom. It’s a great getaway place to spend with family and friends, don’t forget to grab some board games to make the night even more memorable!

Start off at Druids Folly with a picnic and a walk into the surrounding woodland and o’er the moors, or explore some of the rivers, moorland and dales of the nearby Swinton Park estate. Masham, a market town known for its annual sheep fair and its two breweries, is about five miles to the west; hire a bike here if you’d prefer to get around by pedal. Within a half-hour walk you’ll reach the villages of Ilton, Fearby and Healey, and an eight-mile drive will bring you to the ancient cathedral city of Ripon; both Ripon Cathedral and Ripon Racecourse are hits with travellers of all types. Swinton Bivouac is between the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors national parks: you might drive yourself slightly bonkers trying to fit in one trip all the things you can do here, but if you’re pushed for time top picks are Wordsworth favourite the Aysgarth Falls; dinner on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway; a summer boat trip at Castle Howard and exploring the White Scar Caves and Stump Cross Caverns. The Stump Cross Caverns are at the town of Pateley Bridge, which has the officially most old (and maybe most tasty) sweet shop in England in its High Street; the 53 miles of the Nidderdale Way start out from Pateley Bridge too to walk off all the bonbons.
