A stress-free back to basics Cornish time is what's promised by the team at the Lizard Peninsula's Featherlake Glamping, where among the many features to tickle you are the network of footpaths and bridleways just off the site, the closeness to many of Cornwall's top attractions, the luxury accommodation among rabbits playing in the grass – and on-site beauty and massage therapists offering treatments direct to where you're staying. This is old old Cornwall in an area steeped in mining history, in a wildlife haven and an area so spectacularly scenic you'll be uploading envy-inducing pics to social media before you've even unpacked... The site overlooks the lovely Lizard and has top stargazing: lie back and look at the Milky Way from the edge of a firepit before drifting off to sleep among the peace and quiet... A kitchen area with barbecue, firepits and a decked area is a short stroll away from the accommodation area. Featherlake also has tea-making facilities, a chillout zone, a gas hob. a food storage area, a compost toilet and a shower room.

Follow the signs from Truro to Helston; Go through Longdowns, then Rame and at Edgecumbe you will pass Retanna Holiday Park (on your right); 1.2 miles from Retanna you will pass the and the Cash and Carry on your left; Travel a further 0.35 miles, past Huntsmans Court; BEFORE the speed camera, take a left turn onto the farm lane with a sign that says 'Private Land - no public access or right of way'; When you reach the houses, take a left and through the gates.

Featherlake Glamping is linked to a large network of footpaths and bridleways which will take walkers through many handsome woodland strolls. It's a 45-minute walk to Gweek from here witrh its seal sanctuary and the Black Swan village inn. The many beaut beaches of the Lizard Peninsula are rightly world famous and include the most southerly part of mainland England – envy-inducing social media snaps should also be taken here, as should a pic at the signpost of Land's End. For townie trips, visit Falmouth by ferry to go to the Maritime Museum, Henry VIII's Pendennis Castle and the beaches of Swanpool and Gyllynvase. Cornwall's only city of Truro is about 20 minutes away and has a decent amount to do for a day out, including shopping, the cathedral museum, the Hall For Cornwall theatre and Skinner's Brewery Tours – this last not to be missed, says the Featherlake crew. Hire bikes in town for a scenic pedal around the city surrounds. Back at Helston, find BF Adventure for rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking, zipwires, archery and more; tours and days out from mining heritage to adventure parks including the Lizard Stallions Shire and Shetland Experience days; The Flambard Experience, Poldark Mine, Helston Museum, RNAS Culdrose and the Helston Railway, just to start you off.
