Tinney Waters is a fishing and family holiday site set on five acres of peaceful and scenic countryside in north Devon, with mobile homes fully refurbished in 2018. The three well-stocked lakes have mirror, crucian and common carp as well as some koi and ghost carp, and roach, bream, rudd, tench and perch. New platforms were added in 2018, with the top lake being the most accessible. The site is 15 minutes' drive from the centre of Holsworthy, north of the River Tamar and on the Devon/Cornwall border. The Cornwall and Bude beaches of Summerleaze and Widemouth Bay are both within 10 miles; both are dog friendly. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site, and there's wifi. Please be aware that the mobile homes are overlooking the lakes, so the owners recommend that small children are carefully supervised at all times.

The closest beach is Widemouth Sands just outside Bude, 20 minutes' drive from Tinney Waters; the Bude beaches of Crooklet and Summerleaze are slightly further at just under half an hour away. All (and most of the other beaches arouund the Cornwall and Devon coasts) are spectacular spots for watersports, beach idling (and pasty sampling), and accessing the lush landscape of the mighty South West Coast Path. If you're heading out to hike, drive along to Bude to access the path for a strenuous scramble of just under 10 miles to Crackington Haven, via Widemouth Bay and Phillip’s Point (look down to spot seals from here). In the other direction, take the even more energetic path to Hartland Quay, running for 15 and a bit miles from Bude past St Catherine’s Tor, stunning views from Steeple Point and a gorgeous beach at Duckpool (look out for glow worms if you're around Duckpool at night). Top Cornwall attractions by car include Boscastle and Tintagel, 35 and 45 minutes away; heading north back into Devon, the splendid cobbled town of Clovelly is within 40 minutes' drive. And if you're firmly here for a Devon fishing holiday so seeking yet more angling? Try rudd, roach, bream and carp fishing from Bude Canal: pick up a day pass from the Bude Canal Angling Club at the Bude post office.
