Liked: Location - conveniently close to both Bakewell and Buxton with ample walking and hiking nearby.
Disliked: Facilities - there's a big sign on the gates saying to call a number before proceeding, which when called we were advised that the top field is "destroyed" and we "might get stuck" driving in, or we could go down to the bottom of the field which is in better condition, shaded more from the wind, but we'd have to walk to the toilets and showers. (We chose the bottom as the top field was appalling). We found a small toilet block next to the bottom field which had no running water or toilet flushes, and worst the entire building was caked in black mould which the owners had left a bottle of "anti mould" cleaner in to treat with - clearly they knew. If these toilets had an 'out of order' sign on, we'd never have known or gone in but to see that was frightening. Then to have to walk up the steep hill every time we wanted to go to the toilet or to have the queue for the single shower which was lukewarm at best and barely trickled out, we considered just going to a hotel for the night until we found somewhere else to camp for the rest of our trip.

From the manager: Thank you for your review Tom The bottom toilet block was out of order at the time of your visit due to it being the beginning of the season and we hadn't prepared for the awful weather we received in march / April , unfortunately we have no control over the weather but we tried to accommodate everyone that was due to arrive The toilet block in the normal camping field is cleaned multiple times a day sorry for the inconvenience caused but the matter has now been resolved

Liked: Nothing because we didn’t get to stay here, no motorhome pitches and a dirty toilet hut. Essentially just a muddy field.
Disliked: Getting stuck in the mud and the dirty toilet.

From the manager: Thank you for your review We advertise grass only pitches as we are a wild camping site We apologise for you getting stuck in the mud , I was on site all weekend towing people out, unfortunately we can not control the weather Toilets are cleaned multiple times a day but due to the awful weather and muddy boots this made the usual standard of cleanliness difficult to maintain on such a wet weekend

Liked: Nice views and scenery
Disliked: The field was too boggy for motorhomes/campervans to stay, I think this should be made clearer in the wetter months. Lost deposit as we had to move on.

From the manager: Thank you for your review The camping field is only open March to October and unfortunately we can not guarantee the weather from month to month from year to year All our pitches are advertised as grass only in our wild camping field
