  • Small friendly site within 20 minutes' drive of Grimsby and Ceethorpes
  • Within easy reach of The Deep aquarium and Cleethorpes' Jungle Zoo
  • Plenty of wide open space for strolls among Lincolnshire countryside
For a peaceful place to pitch up near the splendid seaside resorts of Grimsby and Cleethorpes, you’ll be well sorted here at Fiveacres. Plenty of Lincolnshire sights await, such as the Fishing Heritage Centre at Grimsby's Alexandra Dock, Jungle Zoo in Cleethorpes, The Deep aquarium in Hull and – if holiday bent should be of a foodie persuasion – the food shops and weekly markets of the lovely market town of Louth. The scenery, it is splendid, and there’s much, much room on site for roaming around; dogs are allowed here too, so should you wish to take a walk with your furry best friend, then there’s oodles of wide open space for them to bound around on too... And speaking of furry things, several animals are on site to pet including a gang of goats and a horse called Meggie Moo, which should pique the interest of any tiddlers you might have in tow. The pitches are set out among lush green grass and surrounded by trees and smashing countryside for miles around, and each have their own electricity and water supply and and chemical dump point. When you want to freshen up before dinner, the site’s wood-clad sanitary block is where you can head, and if you happen to have dirtied your clobber while wandering around, then the park's washing machine and separate tumble dryer are at your disposal to take care of that. At some point you’re probably going to get peckish, so procure yourself some picnic supplies in nearby Immingham, for there’s a budget supermarket a speedy seven minutes’ drive from Fiveacres. If you’re feeling swish (or can’t be faffed to organise your own fodder), then a few takeaways are around the town; otherwise, you can head slightly further afield towards Grimsby, 10 minutes away by car, where there are heaps of restaurants and pubs whose menus are sure to pique your interest.

Local attractions

Your first port of call should surely be Grimsby, 10 minutes’ drive from base; once the world’s biggest fishing port, its nautical heritage is still strong, and several sea-themed attractions in the town and its surrounds await your intrepid exploration. Have a wander around the award-winning Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre at Alexandra Dock, or take a trip to the Discovery Centre in Cleethorpes, to take a look around free art exhibitions, learn what’s happening out at sea from the observatory, or hop in a pedalo or rowing boat and explore the lake there. If you’re visiting Cleethorpes with kids, it’s highly recommended that you take them to see the parrots, toucans and giant snakes at Jungle Zoo for their animally pleasure. Louth – the capital of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – is worth a visit to amble around its independent boutiques and food shops, including its award-winning cheesery, aptly named ‘The Cheese Shop’; for your further foodie enjoyment, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays can be used to stroll around the town’s weekly markets to pick up freshly baked breads and cakes, locally produced meats, fresh fruit and veg and other local bits; alternatively, save yourself for its specialist food market, which occurs only on the second Friday of the month. Lincoln, 50 minutes from base, is well worth spending a day at to goggle several historic hotspots, including its cathedral, castle and Medieval Bishop's Palace. Drive 35 minutes across the Humber Bridge to see Hull’s spectacular and rather large aquarium, The Deep: spend time here exploring its vast tanks, which house more than 3,000 slimy sea creatures, comprising the likes of sharks, sea turtles and sawfish. Also within easy reach of Fiveacres is Ludborough’s Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, for scenic steam train rides and a whole heap of fun festivities and events throughout the year, including its popular annual 1940s weekend in September.
