10-amp electric grass pitch

Liked: Relaxed atmosphere, able to have campfires, shop, keenly priced bar, goats, birds, groups welcomed. Helpful staff.

Disliked: We were asked to turn music off at 10.40 on the Saturday night. the music was very quiet, but no problem and we were asked very politely by owners. However on the Sunday night the group next to us had loud music and were singing up to midnight (it didn’t bother us) but were clearly not asked to turn music off. It wasn’t an issue, but very unfair!!

10-amp electric grass pitch

Liked: We visit The Old Diary Farm for our first camping trip of the year each year. Since last year there have been a few improvements to the showers which is great to see. The ladies showers are nicely tiled and clean. The newly opened men's showers are also great, although it would be nicer with full length doors like the ladies to keep the warmth in. Tent pitches are a great size. We had a pitch right next to the play area and bouncy castles. With two young children (2 and 6) it was a great place to be. The bouncy castles were turned off at 9pm so the noise wasn't an issue in the evening. There is a new under 4 slide and climbing frame since last year. There is a shop open most of the day, hot food and bar (reasonable priced) onsite in the evenings. The food was great. An ice cream van (reasonable priced) comes around the site twice a day as well . There is also some goats which you can buy feed for to feed. This year we didn't venture offsite in the end as the kids were having too much fun but there are some nice walks down the canal and into Cropredy (as well as a play park). Overall our experience was great and we will be back next year for our annual bank holiday weekend trip.

Disliked: The falconry was no longer open (we didn't get around to asking why). Not the campsite's fault but some of the older kids were a bit unruly. There were reminded several times but the campsite staff about not doing things they shouldn't though. Wifi was a bit patchy even sat on the benches by the play area next to the shop.

Liked: Staff were friendly, Amenities were clean, great value for money, having a bar and shop was good, they do have a kitchen where you can order food but we didn’t use that this time. The playground and bouncy castles was a nice touch but the goats were the best. You can take a nice walk into Cropredy village down the canal

Disliked: Not enough showers that’s about it really

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
