For all the advantages of sleeping under the stars with none of the hassle, sort a stay at Stich Glamping (and look forward to steaming yourself in the site’s sauna…). This is a nature-rich, eco-friendly place on a hillside farm in Staffordshire, about a 15-minute drive from Uttoxeter. Bed down in a bell tent prepped for your arrival with linens provided to cosy up under and fairy lights adding ambience. It’s right among woodland and flower meadows, making the whole setup incredibly dreamy as well as conveniently placed – the site is 10 minutes’ drive from Alton Towers theme park. If you’re not a thrill-seeking sort of person, there’s much to do in the surrounds that doesn’t involve riding on the Nemesis and Oblivion rollercoasters, including touring historical buildings, roaming around reservoirs and exploring Stoke-on-Trent (half an hour) and Stafford (40 minutes). Back on base, each accommodation fits a couple and two kids comfortably; if you’d like to add more guests to the party, bring your own extra bedding. Shared showers and eco compost toilets are dotted around the grounds, and the woodburning sauna is attached to one of the amenity blocks.
