  • A 10-minute drive from Beccles; 20 minutes from the coast
  • Smartly furnished accommodation units on an 850-acre working farm
Waterways, woodlands and lots of gorgeous open countryside are what await you at Glamp at the Priory, a quiet meadow deep in the Norfolk countryside. Providing guests with all the joys of camping but without the hassle of sorting somewhere to sleep, this collection of well-equipped accommodation units has proper beds, cooking facilities, 12-volt solar charging points for all guests. These luxurious units are located in a spacious meadow on an 850-acre working farm, just one field over from the owners' herd of Highland cows. Each tent has its own theme and comes with access to individual composting toilets and showers for added comfort and privacy. Pet-friendly accommodation is available too should you need it. Outdoor firepits are provided, and at night this quiet rural spot gets an excellent view of the stars… Glamp at the Priory is right on the edge of the Norfolk Broads and close to the Suffolk border (in fact, the farm is split between the two counties). It's also a 10-minute drive from the attractive market town of Beccles on the river Waveney, where there are independent shops, popular restaurants and waterside pubs to explore, as well as a handy railway station for car-free day trips.

Local attractions

Start your holiday off in Beccles (10 minutes' drive) and you won't go far wrong. Just over the border in Suffolk, the town brings together old market squares, river views and independent shops in a pleasant rural setting. If you fancy a swim, Beccles' open-air lido is the place to be throughout spring and summer, while for more adventurous aquatic activities there's also Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre 20 minutes down the road. Staying on that watery theme, continue on to the gorgeous Norfolk and Suffolk coast for shingle, sand and ice creams galore. Look out for a spectacular sunrise in Lowestoft (25 minutes) – as the most easterly point in the country, it's the first place in the UK to see the sun at first light. Historic sites aren't hard to come by in this part of the world either, with Burgh Castle Roman Fort (25 minutes) and Caister Castle (30 minutes) being just two impressive examples of the kind of thing you might see. And after that? A pint or two at the Humpty Dumpty Brewery (40 minutes) is one popular option, as is a spin around the go-karting track at Ellough Park (15 minutes) – feel free to combine the two (but just not in that order, obviously).
