  • Well-maintained touring park half a mile from the A47
  • A 20-minute drive from King's Lynn and 30 from Hunstanton
  • Family-friendly site with level and spacious pitches; dogs welcome
If you’re in the mood for a touring site that will let you take up residence for a little while in the quiet countryside with historic houses, beaches and a lavender farm around, Pentney Country Club is such a spot. A well-maintained touring site in western Norfolk half a mile to the south of the A47 road, this place is within easy reach of prime seaside spots like King's Lynn (20 minutes’ drive) and Hunstanton (half an hour). With a rural base, this calm site will have you well-set to explore all of the many attractions that Norfolk has to offer. And for the little daily things, the family-friendly place has good facilities including limited toilet and shower amenities, with a chemical disposal point and recycling facilities available too. Caravans and motorhomes will have no difficulty moving around the site, as all pitches are spacious with plenty of room for manoeuvring. (They also have enough room for an awning or pup tent.) Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Pentney Country Club, good news for those of you who don’t want to leave your key family member behind. Thanks to the central location, one of your first tasks will likely be working out where to go first. First of all, there's the fantastic coastline, with everything from traditional seaside resorts and outstanding wildlife havens. There's also excellent food, whether you're in the mood for a hot meal at a local pub (the nearest is a five-minute drive away), fresh Cromer crab or an ice cream on the seafront.

Liked: There was nothing to like as the site was not even open

Disliked: We travelled from Manchester to find out the site was not even open the inconvenience it caused us was unbelievable there was no were to turn the caravan round so we had to reverse back on to a quite busy road.phoned main office they said it was closed and offered another site which was another 70odd miles we refused to travel another 70 miles they did give me my money back but was really hard trying to find another sites as it was school holidays it was a nightmare start to our holiday just think how inconsiderate some people are to not contact us and say they are closed fuming ,

Electric grass pitch

Liked: At the time of going found the site lovely and quiet, facilities good, little stall at the front really helpful and nice for eggs. Club house wasn’t open but that’s because there was only me and my husband, and my daughter and her partner were the only ones on site when we booked so yes lovely and quiet, meet the lady running it and the caretakers both very pleasant people can’t wait to go again at the end of may .

Disliked: A bit of mould in one of the shower cubicals and one not working, & not very hot, but the portablock compensate for that .

Local attractions

Cash in on some of the splendid Norfolk vistas… there’s the lovely Norfolk Lavender (30 minutes’ drive), with its purple fields and farm tours. The Broads National Park (45 minutes) has some handsome waterways, ready for watersports or boat trips if that interests you. Then, there’s the sweet Sandringham Estate (20 minutes), the Queen’s country holiday estate, with trails across 600 acres. Clifton House (10 minutes) is another historic place. It’s a merchant house in King's Lynn (10 minutes), which has its own interesting past as a Hanseatic port town. Tours will take you around for those of you who want to take it in properly. Or, there’s Downham Market (25 minutes) for shopping and dallying around a traditional market town. Beach time? Coastal walks, donkey rides and kitesurfing or windsurfing are some of the rites of passage at Hunstanton beach (30 minutes), while on Cromer Pier (an hour), some of the must-do activities include shows in the pavilion theatre and drinks in the pier’s bar while the sun goes down.
