Liked: Fabulous little place. The location for us was amazing, we have an older dog so the field close behind and beach were perfect for short walks. The sunsets were amazing. I enjoy cycling and from the Pod straight onto the Quay and wonderful safe cycleways with amazing views of the Cumbrian fells, Solway Firth and Scotland. We were very lucky with the weather and my dog enjoyed sunbathing with my husband while I was off cycling. We were right next the the toilet block which was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Fabulous cafe next door. Local dog friendly pubs.
Disliked: Couldn't stay any longer, had to go to work.

Liked: Friendly staff and well equipped site. lovely Cafe on site. Level gravel pitches. Fantastic sunsets ( if lucky with the weather). Lots of views of the Solway coast.Busy Marina to watch the boats. Close to the Town but far away to have its own vibe. Good for dog walking in all weathers. All these things made for me a very happy and memorable weekend.

Liked: Location has to be first! Booking was easy, we requested a good view of the marina and, when we arrived, we we’re offered a choice between two. Great pitches, level, roomy, well drained, with en-suite water tap & EHU. The marina staff are fab, there 24/7 and very knowledgeable about the marina and further environs of Maryport and beyond. There is a popular on site cafe in the marina with good food, well presented and served hot - local ice-cream too. Many of the other campers and boaters had breakfasts there. The site showers and lavatories are First Class, hygienically clean, locked for boaters & campers, you are given a fob for the gate barriers and the facilities. It’s a very quiet site, day and night with great views of the setting sun to the West, best if you walk 150 yards onto the shoreline. There are limited High St. shops in Maryport like many English towns, but there is a Premier Foods on Senhouse Street and a Lidl & B+M bargains near the railway station. The prom goes up the coast to the North from the harbour (Quay chippy is here) and is ~2 miles long and easy walking. Good bus & rail links from near the marina up to Carlisle / down to Barrow in Furness, loads of small stations on the way to explore. We walked the coastline each day and trained either there to walk back or to somewhere to walk further and walk back - that makes sense to me! The railway is great, the line is adjacent the shore, at high tide with a westerly wind the waves reach the train windows. Cannot fail the site, the staff or location - the only downer was NO REAL ALE in Maryport so we walked South to Whitehaven for that. We were there seven nights, we think we’ve done Maryport now for a long stay again, but will deffo visit again for a long mid-week break, or when heading further North. That’s about it, probably one of the nicest sites we’ve visited for all of the above reasons.
Disliked: One hand pulled beer in the whole town. That’s in the Lifeboat, it’s not the pub’s fault, that is fine, if the locals won’t drink real ale the pub can’t be expected to stock it in case a visitor comes in.
