  • Peaceful off-grid site on a smallholding in Cumbria
  • A 10-minute drive from the coast; 25 minutes from Windermere
  • Local produce for sale and firepits provided; pub 10 minutes’ walk
If you’ve been feeling like going off-grid for a while, Holme Meadow Camping is your chance. This peaceful family-run site is on a smallholding in Cumbria with sheep, geese and chickens, and the location is certainly notable… For hikes and watersports, drive 25 minutes north to Windermere in the Lake District National Park. The site is a 20-minute drive from Kirkby Lonsdale on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and a 10 to 15-minute drive to the sea at Sandside or Arnside which are both part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you’d like to eat out, there’s a pub 10 minutes’ walk away in Holme which serves tasty food; take note that there are lots of splendid walks around the village which can be done before or after. Milnthorpe, five minutes' drive away, has shops, cafés and pubs. There’s also a local shop and garage one mile away for light refreshments. Keen birdwatcher? Simply take a stroll to the local canal or mill pond. Back at base, there are splendid wildflower areas and over 45 different species of birds to spot. Fire pits are provided; logs are sold on site. There is also produce for sale, so you should be all set to cook over the fire.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We had the pleasure of being the sites first ever guests. Steve was very warm and welcoming. The location was beautiful. The site is off grid but we were able to blow up our air bed from the solar charging points and we had phone reception which was a bonus too. We only booked for the one night as it was my partner's first ever camping trip. Safe to say she absolutely loved it and we will be booking more trips in the future. I would recommend this site to anyone considering this area. I wish Steve and his wife all the success in your new venture and hopefully we will be back again soon. Thank you
