  • Family-run back to basics farm site in the Lancashire countryside
  • A 35-minute drive from the Lake District; 45 minutes from Blackpool
  • Picnic area on site; pubs, restaurants, and farm shop nearby
Looking to tuck into some time away in the gorgeous Lancashire countryside? Blossom Tree Camping has quite the spot for a rural stay, 35 minutes’ drive away from the Lake District and 45 minutes from Blackpool. This family-run farm is a quiet and spacious patch with some cows and many a place to kick back and relax. Well-behaved dogs are welcome here too, but they must be tethered at all times because the cows aren’t big fans. There’s a picnic area on site when you feel like planting yourself down for some tasty eats. In terms of other facilities, there’s a toilet block with ladies and gents’ toilets and a separate shower block and dishwashing area. Where to source the goods for your picnic, though? Well, no need to worry, as there are lots of food shops, including a farm shop, within five minutes’ drive of the site. Pubs are a common sight too – there are several within five minutes’ drive of the site and many more eateries (restaurants, bars and the like included) in Lancaster, 10 minutes’ drive away. The site also sells pizza cooked in a wood-fired stove. For anything else you may need and finding local attractions, there are friendly faces on site that will be happy to point you in the right direction, whether it’s scenic trails, beaches or crags. Please note that electric cooking equipment and devices such as kettles, hairdryers and straighteners may not work at this site.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The campsite is so lovely, the facilities are great, kept clean and the showers are really good. The little on-site shop has all the hits you need which is great! My children love the chickens and calf’s on site, feeding them was a highlight for them. The bouncy castle was an amazing new bonus this camping trip, the kids absolutely loved this!! What a great idea. The family that run the campsite are so lovely and welcoming, we’ve been here so many times now that we’re regulars, our first time camping here was with an 11 week old baby! We couldn’t recommend this campsite enough and we will be coming here for many many years!

Liked: The site is based around a farm so lots of cool animals (cows and chickens - yes that means rooster calls). Well organised and nice, clean yet simple facilities. Full recycling. Playground for small kids. Small site so all visible. Really nice owner. Views of surrounding hills and good star gazing at night. A short drive to Lancaster and Morecombe.

Disliked: Could be a little noisy as everyone is close together but all quietens down around 10.

Liked: Our first visit to beautiful Lancashire and extremely lucky to have found such a wonderful campsite. The site is set in an idyllic spot, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. To add to the atmosphere, there are chickens and calves, which you can feed. There is an onsite shop, which has all your camping essentials and sells 'The Best' brownies you have ever tasted!! Shower and toilet blocks are kept to a high standard and showers are lovely and warm. There is a washing up area for all your pots and pans, and a variety of recycling bins for all your rubbish. The campsite is a short drive into Lancaster, Morecambe Bay and to the Lakes, so lots to see and explore!! During our stay we unfortunately had car trouble and the owners of the site, went out of their way, not only to source a part, but to also fit it for us. Had it not been for their overwhelming generosity, our holiday would have come to an abrupt end. Not many people would have gone above and beyond for their guests. This lovely family and their staff truly made our holiday and we look forward to returning next year.

Liked: Clean and modern toilet and shower block with plenty of hot water, well stocked site shop, well maintained level pitches, large car parking area, lots of secure open space to walk my Labrador, friendly and welcoming staff, and ideally situated with only 10 minutes drive into the city of Lancaster.

Disliked: There were a lot of slugs which were a nuisance when we were packing away.

Local attractions

Once you’re all settled in, it’ll be time to plot out your plan of action. Those of you who have hiking at the top of your list will, of course, want to circle the Lake District National Park (35 minutes’ drive) on your map. The Trough of Bowland (25 minutes) has plenty more scenic walking and cycling routes – this time through a remote river valley. Underline Ingleton Waterfalls Trail (35 minutes) while you’re at it – the views are very worth the small trek. Like a little of the city life too? Lancaster (10 minutes) is a good place to get in some sightseeing. The castle and the Ashton Memorial in Williamson’s Park might make it onto your tour, as should a stop in a delicious eatery (or two). Blackpool (45 minutes) is a smaller town, but there’s plenty of entertainment packed in, including a theme park, wake park, beaches and amusement piers. While you’re on the topic of bays, the Morecambe Bay (25 minutes) estuary is a haven for all things outdoor sports: sailing, kitesurfing and even parachuting. If you like to scale cliffs, head to Thorn Crag (half an hour) too.
