The Summerhouse 1 bedroom cabin

Liked: It's so peaceful and isolated yet close to many activities and town centers. Comfortable beds. There are even books and toys for the whole family. Hosts were helpful and efficient. We had a great time and will go back again.

The Summerhouse 1 bedroom cabin

Liked: Peaceful setting just outside Battle. It’s the perfect base to explore all the area has to offer. About 20mins drive to Rye and Camber Sands beyond and the seaside attractions of Hastings in the other direction. The cabin itself was fully equipped with everything you would need or want. Tastefully decorated and beautifully clean. Bedroom felt luxurious with its king size bed and with an added bonus of having hotel standard bedding and towels provided. The icing on the cake was the fire pit along with the space around the cabin, which was was fantastic.

Disliked: Nothing

The Summerhouse 1 bedroom cabin

Liked: Lovely cabin with all mod cons to make for a comfortable stay with younger children. Host was efficient with communication and added lots of little touches to make our arrival easier. Pictures do not do this place justice, it was really lovely and beautifully clean. My boys especially liked roasting marshmallows on the fire pit and dark starry nights. Location was wonderful and we will 100% be looking to return!

Local attractions

Mill Farm is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with spectacular places to walk all around. Five minutes by car is all it takes to get to Battle Great Woods, which is also a top spot for cycling. Alternatively, you can follow footpaths from site into the village, passing fields full of sheep and cattle along the way. Battle Abbey (five minutes' drive), where the Battle of Hastings was fought, should be next on the agenda, alongside other historic spots like Bodiam Castle (15 minutes) or Herstmonceux (20 minutes). Afterwards, treat yourself to a traditional cream tea at one of the coffee houses on Battle high street (five minutes), or sample local craft ales at nearby Battle Brewery (five minutes). Plenty of beaches are also within easy reach by car, whether you fancy a traditional bucket-and-spade day at Hastings (20 minutes) or a stroll along the seafront at Bexhill-on-Sea (15 minutes); for those happy to travel slightly further afield, there are the golden dunes of Camber Sands (35 minutes) too.
