  • Spacious farm site on the Kent and East Sussex border
  • Half an hour’s drive from Camber Sands
  • Campfires, café-bar, pick-your-own pitches and adventure playground
Pitch up at Park Farm Caravan and Camping for pitchside campfires galore plus piles of spectacular wide open space around which to cycle, fly kites and let the kids (and dogs) run wild. Set on a farm in a peaceful rural spot on the border between Kent and East Sussex, this site is bordered by a little river and surrounded by miles upon miles of handsome countryside; for days out off site, the swell little seaside resort of Camber Sands is a handy half an hour’s drive away, and attractions like the Kent and Sussex Railway, Bodiam Castle and Bedgebury Pinetum are within a short drive too. Back at base, there’s heaps of stuff to keep guests of all ages amply amused all day long, like free fishing into the neighbouring river direct from the site. For kids there’s a partially fenced adventure playground with a trim trail, a play fort and a big slide for small folk to let off steam at. For rainy day, the open-sided barn is furnished with more fun-based bits, like a seesaw and other kit and games. When peckish or thirsty head over to the site's café and bar – The Camp Stove Kitchen – for delicious food and drinks (perhaps even a cheeky cocktail…). Otherwise, head to the neighbouring pub for a feed or an afternoon pint of guest ale. After a feed, it’s a splendid idea to have an amble around the farm to – the site owners actively maintain natural habitats to keep local wildlife happy, so while out and walking around one might well catch sight of some native critters too, from deer, barn owls and lots of other bird species to plenty of butterflies and insects.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Couldn't wish for a more friendly welcome. All the staff were really nice and always ready for a chat. The pitch was a really good size with electric and water very close by There is a lovely little shop on site that also sells wonderful food. All fresh cooked to order. There is a man drives round late afternoon with logs if you want them, thought this was a great idea. Not that we were interested as a mature couple but there was a nice little play area for the children to play in.

Disliked: The showers didn't have shower curtains so you had to be careful where you put your things but this isn't really a hardship The wifi was a bit intermittent as with most camping sites. There are only two toilet blocks which means that there can be a fare walk for some as the site is huge.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Very friendly staff with quick and efficient check in process, staff could not do more to help. The amenities were always clean and in good working order. The pitch sizes were the biggest we have experienced, very generous however this did lead to one problem (highlighted below) The on site shop had all basics and a good stock of tent supplies should you forget anything (like we did!) close water points to the electric pitches

Disliked: The size of the pitches lead to a problem with our electric hook up. We were on the very end pitch on the row and our cable did not reach from the hook up point to our pitch. Luckily we were across two pitches and so cold move into our friends pitch (due to large size!) which meant we could use electric hook up. definitely consider an extension.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Loads of space plenty of room for pitches facilities clean snuff to use

Disliked: Dogs from seasonal pitches continously barking all day and night saws and drilling noise all day from seasonal pitches we was at bottom of hill in the dip when it rained field floods (lucky we had 4x4) continously getting pestered to buy logs by owner many times a day Onsite Shop is cash only and useless do not sell essentials only kids toys and chocolate ect for kids 1 toilet block on site and so far away from pitches unless your sesonal pitch if you cannot walk far you not allowed to drive to facilties No car movement after 7pm at night Toilets blocks locked at 7.30pm till 7am We brought loaf bread and cheese on sites in shop and was charged £6.90 for it water taps on post and not secure so you have to hold post and fill barrel at same time Play park is falling apart not safe zip line dosnt work We left early did not stay full time

From the manager: Hi, Thanks you for taking the time to leave us a review, and it was good to see that you found our campsite spacious & the facilities clean. To answer your other points, we take on board that you disliked one of the seasonal pitch holders setting up their pitch. Reception did email all customers prior to arrival advising that certain parts of the campsite might be muddy, and the log man does deliver logs onsite which we have found most customers like (he certainly doesn't pest people to buy anything!). It is a little strange to complain that the shop only sells chocolate and toys and then also complain about the bread and cheese you bought there? We have checked that the zip wire does work, but if anything is reported as not working, we look into it as soon as possible. The toilet blocks are certainly not closed from 7.30pm. We do ask that cars are not driven around the campsite after 7.30pm and this is for the safety of other campsite users.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The location was nice, a beautiful part of the countryside. The staff in the cafe/shop were very friendly and helpful. The toilet and washroom facilities were clean and well maintained.

Disliked: As it was getting towards the end of the season, not all of the toilets were open. My nearest toilet block was locked. The shop was geared more towards children with plenty of sweets and ice cream. I would have liked a bigger selection of foodstuffs and some camping equipment and not jut BBQ tongs. A strong Wi-Fi signal was only available in and around the cafe and toilets.

From the manager: Hi and thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. It was great to see that you enjoyed our beautiful location, well maintained facilities and found our staff to be friendly and helpful. The shop does try to cater for the most popular items, but will have less perishable goods during very quiet periods. During October, the campsite is very quiet which is why the main facilities block was open, but not every toilet block is open. You can of course pitch near the main toilet block if you wish.

Local attractions

The plentiful paths that lie around the site also link up with other local footpaths, like the one that runs beside the river to Bodiam Castle, about 20 minutes’ amble away. At Bewl Water you can go sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and cycling, or you can head to the shingle stretches at Camber Sands for windsurfing and jetskiing at Cooden beach near Bexhill. If angling’s more your sort of water-based pursuit, fish free of charge for chub and roach from the site, or head to the nearby fish farm. For a spot of local history, visit National Trust properties like Sissinghurst Castle, Cranbrook, Smallhythe Place, Scotney Castle and Batemans; should you instead fancy being ferried around, get all aboard at Bodiam for the Kent and East Sussex Railway.
