  • Laidback and old-fashioned pop-up site by the New Forest
  • Family orientated, dogs allowed and campfires permitted
  • Within walking distance of Milford on Sea
The friendly, family and old-school family park of Muddycreek Farm is a popup site opening for four weeks in summer, to tent and campervans looking for a Hampshire hol. It’s well placed for woodland and seaside days, on the edge of the New Forest National Park and within walking distance of the village of Milford On Sea. The site had a laidback vibe and no set pitches, so guests can park or pitch up where they like and easily camp together with family and friends. Campfires are allowed, Friday nights are pizza nights, and the site allows dogs. Amenities include hot showers, proper flushing toilets and a washing-up area. The beach is just over a mile away, and more sands as well as pubs and restaurants are all within easy reach.

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The location was great, close to pubs, walkable to the sea. Right on the edge of the new forest, didn’t get the same vibe as being inside it, but then you can’t have camp fires inside the actual forest - so it’s a trade off! Food van Fridays and Saturdays was a nice touch. Clean toilet and shower block.

Disliked: The pizza food van lady was grumpy because they were busy. She should be happy they were making lots of money! There were too many rules for my liking e.g pitch sizes, bins just for paper towels

From the manager: Thanks for the positive comments in your review. The pizza people are totally separate to the campsite and I think it’s a little unfair to comment negatively on this review about another company. I am amazed that you feel that we have too many rules as we have so few! We do not have set pitch sizes, in fact quite the opposite, we ask that you pitch a minimum 10m away from other pitches as we have so much space, I would have thought this was a positive rule? We do however ask for the bin by the tooth brushing area to be hand towels only otherwise people put their dog poo bags in there and that can get quite unpleasant as that bin does not have a lid!

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: From the moment we turned up at Muddycreek we had the most amazing experience. From the facilities to the pitch, everything was perfect. The showers and loos were clean and cleaned regularly, everything you needed was readily available. Polly and team were very helpful and communicated well indeed. We would certainly return annually!

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Early checkin and late checkout made for a longer weekend break. Very relaxed atmosphere. Lovely dark skies. Firepit purchase on site. Popup pizza van Friday night.

Disliked: Showers are really basic - open air, u unisex in a converted stable so was a little chilly for the adults and really cold for little kids.

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The freedom to pitch where you like and the room you’re allowed is excellent. Also I like that you have to be 10 metres away from others. Facilities are great, hot showers, clean toilets. Like the fact the noise is kept to a minimum after 10 pm too, everyone seems very respectful. The pizza on Friday nights is delicious! Would definitely return.

Disliked: The entrance to the campsite is a bit rough for a car like mine. Very bumpy. Also got bitten by something, either horseflies or mosquitos. Really irritating.

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Fantastic site, the owners are so friendly and helpful, great facilities (smart toilets) and lovely ponies the children loved "visiting". Delicious pizza on Friday nights. Lots of space and good to be allowed fires and dogs! Great location too, short drive to beautiful beach. Nice local pub and handy playground we walked to. Owner even kindly sent my shampoo to me without charge when I foolishly left it behind. Would definitely recommend

Local attractions

The farm is within walking distance of Milford on Sea and its shingle beach: strike out from here for the walk along the cliffside path to Barton on Sea. Once there, a golf course is at the eastern edge of the village for a sedate session of teeing off, and paragliding is a popular option at the cliffs for those who want to try something a little more adrenalinalised. Another top local walk is to Hurst Castle, a mile and a half from Milford, starting off at the pretty village of Keyhaven (pub by the water here much recommended) and taking one of the regular seasonal ferries across to the old fort. Or hike or bike along to Lymington three and a half miles away, to potter around the harbour and the cafés, independent shops and cobbled streets of the Old Town. You’ll need significant time around the paths, bridleways and tracks of the New Forest too: the nearest visitor centres are at Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst, each about 25 minutes’ drive away.
