Electric grass pitch

Liked: Nothing at all

Disliked: Terrible site , overgrown grass muddy, we called the number as nobody in the office at all , the bins in the toilets were overflowing the smell was awful , the soap looked like it’s been there 10 years , people came and left straight away , had it not been so late and we had already paid £25 we would of left You should not sell this site , I should of read the reviews before I booked Do not stay here

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Small convenient for shuttle crossing, did not use facilities so cannot comment. Everyone was friendly.

Disliked: All grass pitches most were flooded, tried one got stuck (luckily another guest pulled us out). Over priced for facilities on offer. Quite close to a busy road.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Cheap as chips Not too shabby There’s some permanent residents that don’t like new comers but…duck them… Majority of residents are nice though

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Nothing to like

Disliked: Just about the unfriendliest and unwelcoming campsite I’ve ever been to. No staff, no way of contacting them. Drove out and stayed at a premier inn.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: It was near the Channel Tunnel

Disliked: Do not expect much and you won't be disappointed Mens toilets was unuseable, full of excrement and tissue....completely blocked. Grass recently cut but not collected. Air of neglect about everything

Electric grass pitch

Liked: • Rural • Quiet • Easy to find • 20 minutes to Dover ferry It was a very basic site, we arrived at just after 7pm to the office closed with no instructions on what pitch to have and no one around to ask, we also hadn’t had anything via email so we just picked a pitch and set up. It was slightly overgrown and muddy in places but this didn’t bother us. The washroom facilities were basic, there was hot running water in the showers and both the shower and toilets were clean which is all we required 😁 The site appears to have a couple of long term residents in some old, tired looking vans as mentioned in other reviews but they seemed pleasant enough and kept themselves to themselves.

Disliked: I woulda’t say we disliked anything but it is very basic. For the local area and location the price is good but given how basic the site is it could be seen as expensive…. Could do with a little upgrade to the facilities - A paint to the concrete floors, a bit of heating etc….. wouldn’t cost much but would make a big difference

Local attractions

The chalk downlands of the Elham valley are the suggested starting point for hikes around the area; if you're feeling energetic, make it your mission to do the whole 22.5-mile route of the Elham Valley Way, starting at Hythe and finishing, like certain pilgrims, at Canterbury Cathedral. Rest up when you arrive then investigate the cathedral further: Canterbury's most famed landmark is the oldest cathedral in England and is of course where Chaucer's lot amused themselves in quarantine by telling many tales. The Canterbury Tales is an award-winning attraction in the city (yes, yes, as well as a book); after that, wander around the shops and pubs before an evening in one of Canterbury's restaurants. And then perhaps another pub… Also have a wander around the 90 acres of ancient parkland of nearby Howletts Zoo Park, where animals to see include lions, tigers, rhinos and elephants.
