  • Simple dog-friendly site among apple orchards in the Kent countryside
  • On the Greensand Ridge, with easy access to footpaths and local pubs
  • Lively farm with businesses including a brewery and farm shop
Loddington Farm is a simple site set among apple orchards in Kent’s ‘Garden of England’. The farm already has a great reputation as a community hub for locals. Over the past 10 years, it has diversified by building a number of on-site businesses, including a farm shop, the Musket Brewery and taproom and a pick-your-own-flowers place named Blooming Green (which you will, of course, have splendid access to during their opening hours). The farm is on the Greensand Ridge, a greensand and sandstone escarpment with woodlands and other lovely scenery, so there are great footpaths in the local area. It’s also between the villages of Linton and Boughton Monchelsea, so traditional country pubs are within 20 to 25 minutes’ walk of the farm. The apple farm has been owned by the Smith family for over 140 years, but it’s only recently that they’ve decided to invite overnight guests onboard (after some years of pondering and planning). Hikers are very likely to appreciate that the Greensand Way, with views over the surrounding countryside, also runs by the farm. There are portable toilets and showers available, along with a washing-up area. You’ll probably be the most excited about visiting the brewery and tap room, which is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm to 10pm. On Saturdays, it’s open from 12pm to 10pm and on Sundays, it’s open from 12pm to 6pm. The field is large, having been expanded in 2024 to create extra space away from the brewery and parking. Pick your own flowers at Blooming Green on Saturdays throughout the summer. The on-site farm shop is open on Monday through to Saturday between 9am and 5pm, giving you the perfect excuse for a barbecue.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: This was our first stay in our new van conversion, so we wanted to stay local... prior to our stay we were contaced by a friendly gentleman called Tom, he wanted to introduce him self, which i found this very reasuring, and gave off a very relaxed vibe 🙂 On arriving we could choose where we wanted to pitch, whch we were very relieved about, as having two big reactive doggo's we needed to park up on our own away from others. There was plenty of areas to exercise them, which was a bonus. There was a lovely shower hut, that was very quaint, and clean, a much better experience than a shower block! The farm shop was amazing, with lots of wonderful foods, and logs for the firepit. We didn't go to the brewery, but it seemed very popular with many coming to enjoy the wonderful beers, and listening to the live music, and morris dancers. We felt like we were miles away from home, very relaxed and completely at one with our selfs, even though we were only 10 minutes away, we could have been anywhere! We would definitely stay again and again and again! LOVED IT ♥️

Disliked: There was nothing to dislike about Loddington Farm, which is very rare!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Campsite was clean and the staff were very friendly, Shower is a lot better than it looks! Maybe too hot you just have to get it right. Not a lot to write about was very quiet during our stay. The armoury had an event on the Friday and hosted a birthday party on the Saturday, nice to hear some music. The farm shop was a positive good selection and the bacon was very nice.

Disliked: Toilets didn’t have water to wash hands and instead had hand sanitiser. Man maintaining the grounds came round on a lawnmower but only mowed the edges of the field leaving long patches seemed a bit weird not to mow the full grounds. Washing up area was a sink next to a cold tap, ended up filling a bucket with hot water from the shower to wash the dishes.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Bar on site, farm shop selling wonderful products, friendly locals and people that live and work there, hot outdoor shower, no one bothers you.

Disliked: Portaloo, scenery used to be beautiful but now they’ve cut down the apple trees, sink has tap next to it as opposed to in it

They really need to separate the car park from the campsite.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Brewery on site selling very reasonable price beer, £9.20 for 2 pints (although beer was very average). Porta loo and shower. Really nice Thai food van was on site while we were there.

Disliked: Campsite was being used as a carpark (see pictures). No one greeted us and we saw no one throughout our stay so we had no idea where any local dog walks were. There was an event on while we were there of probably about 200 people which got louder as the night went on, something to be aware of if you're expecting a quiet peaceful break. Although it was very peaceful once the event finished.

From the manager: Hi Russell, Thanks for choosing Loddington Farm for your trip. For 2024 we have expanded the camping field so that you can pitch up further away from the brewery and car park. The brewery does have events on at times throughout the year which can lead to a dramatic increase in visitors to the farm so its always worth checking in advance. Your confirmation email would have advised that there is no reception upon arrival but for future reference the 'greensand way footpath' runs right through the farm and starts just a few minutes walk down the lane from the camping field. Last year was our first foray into offering the farm for camping so your feedback is much appreciated for us to improve our offering for the years ahead. Thanks
