Higgledy Piggledy camping pod

From £219 2 nights, 2 adults

4 people maximum

Higgledy Piggledy has its own character - as the name might suggest - as it has angled walls and 'wonky' windows. It has one double bed and one set of bunk beds, which due to the angled walls, consists of a small double lower bunk and a single top bunk. If you needed to fit a travel cot in the pod, then this is the most suitable of the three. Higgledy Piggledy can sleep up to four people. It also comes with electric, a kettle and a counter top fridge.

Please bring your own cooking equipment.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The site is conveniently based near London we used it to break a journey from Wales. The facilities were excellent, the pitches were well laid out with all facilities we needed and the staff helpful. TV reception was good.

Disliked: The site is on a flight path to Gatwick airport and planes constantly flew low overhead and were quite disturbing for sleeping. Some may find this not a problem but we are used to living in rural Wales with little noise.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: We really enjoyed staying here, just walking and playing outdoors with our grandsons and Bess the dog! The weather was changeable but mostly dry except at night- it poured for 3 nights! That can’t be helped , just get old clothes and wellies on! The aeroplanes were very noisy but we got used to them very quickly. The toilet and showers were clean although the bins could have done with being emptied. The laundry was very handy, it would have been perfect if they had sold some detergent. In all we’ve had a very healthy, happy few nights at Long Acres, thank you to the very friendly staff!

Disliked: Just needed to sell detergent and empty the toilet/ bathroom bins a little more often please!

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Facilities all good

Disliked: They moved my Meadow booking to a Circle one - pitch was small and very close to adjacent pitch. A caravan booking was clearly given a better pitch over me in a camper. Circle area felt like more of a car park than a campsite and aircraft noise was intrusive.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Good sized pitches. Close to toilet and shower blocks. Approach to site good. Close to village for shops. Onsite food outlets for drinks and food. Friendly staff.

Disliked: Charge of 50p for shower. Showers should be free. Also they need to put a bucket and mop in shower area as they have these window cleaning squidgy to clean excess water off the floor, but walking over the floor created lots of muddy prints from shoes. Especially when lots of children onsite the showers got quite dirty. Found it hard to get dressed after shower with floor so dirty. A mop and bucket would be better than squidgy.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Facilities were clean. Lots of unallocated space so good for kids to run around.

Disliked: You need a really long electric wire to reach some of the hook ups. Aeroplane noise didn't bother us but if you are sensitive to noise then this isn't the site for you.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Facilities are very nice and clean, and site is well kept with huge pitches. On site food and drink vans are lovely and nice to see the ponies living in nearby fields. Also easy to walk to village shops and pub by the lake. Good location for Godstone farm which we visited and is brilliant for young kids. Also a wildlife park closer but we didn’t get time. Also the glamping options looked really nice and spacious !

Disliked: PLANES ! It is unfortunately right under the flight path and the planes are every 2 mins and very loud , day and night (although slightly quieter and less often at night) . We slept through it the second night mostly but probably because we were so tired from lack of sleep first night! It’s such a shame for what is a lovely campsite but if you’re looking to chill all day at the site then maybe not a quiet enough space . Having said that, good for plane enthusiasts! Also charging extra for the showers is a bit naff even if it is 50p . Atleast they were good showers though

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Super friendly staff and very helpful. Beautiful forest and lake walks around.

Disliked: 50p for a 8 minutes shower that’s wasn’t the cleanest. Located very close to Gatwick airport/planes flying over every 2 minutes. No on-site shop with basic essentials.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Facilities were very clean the majority of the time. The rent field is a large size and allows you to have space to yourself. Good place for travelling into London with several train stations nearby.

Disliked: My partner had a problem sleeping with the plane noise at night as you are over the flight path for landing planes. Would also have been nice to have a drinking water tap in the tent field. Would also have been nice if the showers were free like most sites

Local attractions

Don’t lose your head with the huge range of historical highlights in the area, starting with 13th-century Hever Castle (15 minutes' drive), the childhood home of Anne Boleyn (boo to Henry Eighth) and with award-winning gardens, water maze with a mind of its own and what will probably be the fave of the kids – a 13th-century gatehouse with historical instruments of execution and torture. Standen (15 minutes), a National Trust property at nearby East Grinstead, has a hillside setting around an arts and crafts house with work by William Morris. Gardens more your thing? Wander around the world woodlands at Wakehurst (20 minutes), managed by the Royal Gardens at Kew and the setting for much of Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of As You Like It, or take a look at Wisley (35 minutes), the flagship garden of the Royal Horticultural Society. Horses? You’ll like Lingfield Park Racecourse, one of only five all-weather racecourses in the country, with race meetings all year round. Or how about other types of beasties – Surrey is stuffed with animal parks, wildlife centres and farms: Lingfield’s British Wildlife Centre (five minutes) with 40 native species, Farnham’s Birdworld (an hour) and the farm park Hobbledown (35 minutes) for starters – or the zoo and Sea Life Centre at Chessington World of Adventures (35 minutes). Not that a visit to the racecourse coincides with this, but if you’re looking for free things to do around Long Acres and in Surrey, again the area is stuffed with options including walks among the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and chalky North Downs, drooling with envy at Mercedes Benz World or learning about Lewis Carroll at Guildford Museum.
