Camping pods

Camping and glamping pods are a very smart choice for Cornish holidays – they're great for all sorts of travellers, from backpackers taking on the South West Coast Path to families looking for Cornish seaside breaks. Read below to find out what accommodation is available, where to look and for inspiration to help you plan your next holiday in Cornwall.

Cornish camping and glamping pods

Imagine dozing off in a comfy wooden pod listening to birdsong or the sound of the sea before waking up refreshed and ready to explore Cornwall's countryside… If you like the sound of that, you may be wondering what accommodation is available.

Cornwall has a wide range of camping pods (which are typically more basic in terms of features and furnishings) as well as more high-end glamping pods (where you can look forward to a few hotel-style extras or luxuries like a hot tub to make your stay more comfortable). Find a pod near the sea or with an on-site pool if you fancy a swim, or opt for a pod site with an on-site restaurant or café if you’re looking for a break from self-catering.

Where to book pods in Cornwall?

Our pods are located in a range of settings: we’ve got pods at family-friendly holiday parks or on peaceful Cornish farms, and many of them are dog-friendly

For a kid-friendly pod break, we’d recommend looking around the north Cornwall town of Bude, where a collection of wide sandy beaches and family-friendly attractions are on offer. Couples looking for space and seclusion might want to base themselves around the isolated Lizard or Roseland peninsulas in the south, while watersports enthusiasts will want to be within reach of the surfing hubs around Newquay

What could you do?

There are all sorts of possibilities when you book a pod in Cornwall. Our travel team has suggested a couple below.

Pedalling by day, pods by night

Cornwall is crisscrossed by some of England’s most scenic cycle paths, with highlights including the Coast to Coast route linking Portreath to Devoran, and the family-friendly Camel Trail – a flat former railway line stretching from the north Cornwall coast to the edge of Bodmin Moor. Booking a pod with a proper bed is an excellent way of giving your limbs a well-deserved rest, and much more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. Pedalling from pod to pod in Cornwall makes a particularly great option if you’d like to try bikepacking but don’t have all the gear: there’s a great mix of terrain and plenty of pods around the most popular routes.

The great garden getaway

Pitch up in a pod for a grand tour of Cornwall’s best gardens, including the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Caerhays Castle and Gardens. As well as being a comfy place to stay the night, many pods will come with a terrace or outdoor space where you can store any plants you’ve picked up at garden centres over the course of your adventures.

Learn a new sport by the sea

Pick a pod by the coast and book yourself onto a surfing course around Newquay, sailing around Falmouth or coasteering around Penzance. Pods make an excellent base for breaks focused on outdoor activities: they’re more comfortable and less effort than sleeping in a tent, are cheaper than most hotels and have outdoor space where you can air-dry towels and wetsuits.
