  • Peaceful and secluded 200-acre farm site on the river Lynher
  • A 10-minute drive from Saltash or 20 minutes from Looe
  • Pitch up wild-style anywhere on site or opt for field with facilities
What a cracking corner of Cornwall this is: make a break for Bush Farm Wild Camping if you fancy peaceful times spent lounging by the Lynher river. There's certainly no shortage of space at this 200-acre site – woodland walks, strolls through green fields and waterside wanders by rivers and lakes are all on offer here. This family-friendly spot is a fab site to bring the kids to, especially if they're avid nature fans: these wild grounds are always rustling with local birds and beasts, and you can keep an eye out for the farm's friendly horses and dogs as well. When you roll up at this green and grassy spot, you'll be given a map and left to settle down wherever you please. Don't fancy trekking to get to the loo and showers? Opt for the main site instead and pitch up closer to the farm’s creature comforts. Off-site jaunts are also easily arranged in this well-connected part of the world – Saltash and the gorgeous river Tamar are 10 minutes' drive away, while Plymouth, on the other side of the Devon-Cornwall border, can be reached in about 25 minutes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome here. The Bush Farm Wild Camping crew are happy for you to light up a barbecue or firepit and can sort you out with bags of wood to help you get the flames flickering in no time.

Non-electric grass and earth tent or motorhome pitch (wild)

Liked: You can park anywhere you like, The staff are really friendly, the toilet and shower facilities are in a converted cow shed which has been really nicely converted. Shower water was nice and hot.

Disliked: Can be a little cold after a shower in the winter due to the showers and toilets not being in an inclosed barn.

Non-electric grass and earth tent or motorhome pitch (wild)

Liked: Set in a lovely valley the place offers the peace and tranquillity and it's vast so you won't have that "overcrowded" feeling you can experience on many other sites. The customer service is exceptional. Thanks again Stuart for helping me to change a tyre on my car on early Sunday morning!

Non-electric grass and earth tent or motorhome pitch (wild)

Liked: I loved bush farm’s wild and spacious camping fields and stunning views. The showers and toilets were really clean, there was eco washing up liquid provided and plenty of toilet paper. I especially loved the shower, it’s a really cool design and very powerful! The only thing that could’ve made my stay better would’ve been a single person discount.

Liked: Wild camping style site, freedom, space, peace!! The facilities were perfect for the style of site:

Disliked: In wet weather the site is much more accessible by 4x4 and if you have a roof tent / can there are more options of where to camp.

Liked: Amazing set up. Choice of fields by water, in the orchard, on a hill - set up where you want. I pitched in the orchard and no other campers in sight. Very quiet and peaceful and beautiful dark sky. I managed to walk 5 miles one day just exploring the campsite. River deep enough to swim in. Hot showers and flushing loos whilst wild camping - what’s not to like?

Liked: Loved being able to choose own pitch & so much space to choose from. Very rustic, everything you need is there. Well behaved dogs being allowed to be off lead was awesome & loads of acres to walk round & river to splash in for them. Got stuck in the field overnight after some rain & got a cheerful tow out from the hosts & their landrover. Had to leave early sadly after an emergency phonecall but would 100% recommend

Disliked: Nothing

Local attractions

After a couple of days on this vast family farm, you'll probably be a dab hand at finding your way around a fair few of its 200 acres. Put those navigation skills to the test at The Amazing Cornish Maize Maze (five minutes' drive), a fiendishly tricky labyrinth that's planted in a different layout each summer. Adrenaline Quarry (20 minutes), an adventurous activities centre, has more family-friendly options to keep the small sorts on side. Grownups who fancy a break from DIY-style stays can indulge in a proper pampering at St. Mellion Estate (10 minutes), a posh Cornish resort with a top-notch golf course and soothing spa. Once your aches and pains have melted away, take a blissful saltwater bath at Whitsand Bay (20 minutes), or head to Looe harbour for wine by the sea and sunset strolls. The inimitable Eden Project (45 minutes) has been a mainstay of Cornish hols since it opened the doors to its domes back in 2001 – budding botanists and eager environmentalists will definitely want to make the trip.
