  • Dog exercise area; pubs, restaurants and entertainment in the city
Where to take off to from Truro Holiday Park? Well, you’ll be want to follow all four points of the compass from this dog-friendly holiday park, as it’s in central Cornwall location is well-situated for all things historic and the seaside… there are tours and sampling around Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm 10 minutes’ drive to the north, the cathedral city of Truro 10 minutes to the east, Falmouth’s seaside scape 25 minutes to the south and St Agnes Head’s tin and copper mines 20 minutes to the west. You’ll have your pick of Cornwall’s two coastlines from here, with the nearest coves at Chapel Porth Beach (15 minutes’ drive) or on the estuary, Loe Beach (20 minutes). But it’s not all about the water from here, as Truro’s jam-packed with shops, restaurants, cafés, pubs and entertainment facilities for some retail therapy or a foodie excursion. There’s the cinema, football club (with games throughout the year) or the Hall for Cornwall, which hosts musicals, ballets, opera, entertainers, comedians and musical acts too. There are heated toilet blocks and large shower rooms to dust yourself off, as well as a laundry room and wifi access. Any canine companions aren’t left out either, as there’s a dog exercise area to tire them out before it’s time for some shut-eye.

Local attractions

If you picture Truro, its cathedral may spring to mind, and it’s no surprise, as the three-spired Gothic Revival style Truro Cathedral (15 minutes’ drive) is a grand sight, whether you’re touring it yourself or joining in on one of its photography workshops. On the streets, the Gothic architecture continues, but the Hall For Cornwall (15 minutes) is Italianate and home to regular flea markets, a restaurant, café and a bar (what a place for a drink), aside from its events. To switch up the city scenery for watersports, there are kayak and canoe wildlife tours directly from Truro onto the Truro river, but the biggest watersports scene is down at Looe Beach (20 minutes) where kayaks and paddleboards are for hire. Those of you who want to put your sailing skills to the test can also go for a lesson down the estuary. On the way there, maritime views don’t get much more commanding than the National Trust’s Trelissick Garden (15 minutes), although Falmouth (25 minutes) will certainly be in the running too, as its 16th-century Pendennis Castle stands on the coast too and there’s a museum here dedicated to everything maritime, as well as fishing and diving activities.
