  • Dog-friendly luxury safari lodges surrounded by deer enclosures
  • A 20-minute drive to Dartmoor National Park, with rural walks locally
  • Deer feeding activities available; firepit access; private decking
Rise and shine, make your way onto your private decking and say hello to a bunch of gentle deer… Wootten Deer Park is a rural glamping haven with a difference. The difference being that the site's dog-friendly luxury safari lodges are in a 15-acre field overlooking a deer enclosure. That means that mornings may involve a brew on your decking (which juts out into the deer enclosure) and observing at your leisure or deer feeding activities accompanied by one of the site’s rangers. An afternoon stroll over Dartmoor’s open moorlands may follow (the edge of the national park and the A30 are 20 minutes’ drive away). The deer here have either been hand-reared or handled on a regular basis, so you’re welcome to get up and close on your visit with the ranger (count this prime time for snapping a selfie). The deer enclosure, screened by woodland and hedging, and the surrounding countryside add to the natural feel of the site. Yet, this calm and quiet place is still crammed with creature comforts. The lodges have elevated positions and inside, there are cosy kingsize beds, two children’s cabin beds, a wipe-clean waterproof dog bed (and a dog food and water bowl), electric blankets, hot showers, flushing loos, gas water heaters for instant hot water, a gas hob, TV, broadband and mains electric and a woodburning stove with an integrated oven. A short stroll from the lodges is a sunken communal firepit and seating area (for a glass or mug of something you adore). Another tasty option for dinnertimes are the local chippy, Indian takeaway or pubs, all a short drive away. Or you may wish to cook up venison brought from the site (and available to pre-order) in your fully-equipped kitchen or decking barbecue. You’ll also have use of a safari-style golf buggy for your stay (terms and conditions apply), making it easy to get to and from the carpark.
