  • Unforgettable walks
  • Wonderful scenery, bike rides and beaches
Please note: The directions for this site have been amended since the 2015/16 Sites Directory and Handbook was issued. Plymouth Sound Caravan Club Site rests on a headland outside the town of Plymouth and offers superb views across the glorious Sound. This delightful caravan park is close to the South West Coastal Footpath for unforgettable walks, the Plym Valley Cycleway for those keen to experience some wonderful scenery by bike and many lovely beaches. Apart from the normal restaurant and shopping choices of a busy town, the convenient distance of the caravan site to Plymouth offers the opportunity to visit its historic dockyard and take the popular warship cruise. Other attractions include the Dome on the famous Hoe for a rich and in-depth multimedia explanation of the city's history. A great getaway for the whole family, Plymouth Sound Caravan Club Site also puts children within easy reach of fun attractions such as the local ice rink and Atlantis pool at the Plymouth Pavilions, complete with shipwrecked galleon, beach and two super flumes. The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth is a fantastic attraction for all ages. Also not to be missed is the nearby historic Morwellham Quay, a lovingly reconstructed Victorian copper port, as well as Buckland Abbey, the ancient monastery once owned by Francis Drake. The site is a great option for dog owners, with a dog-friendly pub on the waterfront in Plymstock and a nearby sandy beach where dogs can be walked.

Route directions

Please only use these recommended directions for the final approach and not SatNav, due to alternative routes being unsuitable for towing. Leave the A38 via the slip road at Marsh Mills flyover and at the roundabout turn left onto the A374 (signposted Plymouth City Centre, Kingsbridge), follow signs A379, Kingsbridge. Cross the Laira Bridge and in about 2.25 miles turn right at fourth roundabout opposite Elburton Hotel into Springfield Road. At the first set of traffic lights turn left. Continue on uphill until reaching the garage slightly ahead of you. Turn right in front of the garage into Staddiscombe Road. Upon reaching the Staddy Function Centre, turn left at the T junction. Continue on this road through the narrow section passing the sign for Wembury on your left. Take the next turning on the right signposted Plymouth Sound C C Site/ Down Thomas. Immediately after the speed hump indicating the 20mph sign turn right into Bovisand Lane (narrow entrance). After passing the CL the site is on the right hand side of the bend in the road. Note: drive with caution along last 1 mile to site, as the road is narrow and winding but has passing bays.
