Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: We chose Branscombe as it was a small site which offered facilities for a young family. It did not disappoint, the facilities were good and clean, cleaned throughout the day, hot showers, play area for the kids, the views and it was peaceful.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (no cars, solo)

Liked: A great campsite with a great little lay out and a great vibe 😊 The owners and staff were so down to Earth and kept on top of making everything clean, comfortable and accessible. Very close to lovely spots like Seaton and Beer 🍻

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We stayed over a spectacularly wet weekend and because our pitch was on a slight slope we had mud everywhere. However, that's British weather for you. On the plus side the owners did not stop working the whole time and miraculously the bathrooms were kept clean and free of mud. The games room is a great feature as it gave our teenage sons somewhere to have fun despite the weather.

From the manager: Thank you for the lovely review. The weather was not on our side! But we are pleased your sons still had a fun Chris and Tracey

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Nice maintain grass area.

Disliked: There is no play area for older kids. One of the decision to choice this pitch was to see planes, sadly wasn't any there.

From the manager: Thank you for the review for your 1 night stay with us, sadly the planes are not guaranteed to fly, it really depends on several factors such as weather act Chris and Tracey

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Site was clean, spacious and in a good area. Toilets and showers were clean.

Disliked: We felt may be the site need a few more toilets. It was ok while we stayed, but during busy period of time, it could be tricky. We stayed up to see the Aurora and ended up seeing some punch up between people. This is not the site’s fault, it’s just some silly people. What a shame, it ruined everyone’s night.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are glad you found the toilets and showers clean. Chris and Tracey

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: 2nd time at this campsite, last time in a tent this time in a campervan. Great site, fantastic views across farmland. Quite family and dog friendly site with the added bonus of planes taking off and landing. Lovely beaches nearby. Amenities are excellent for showing and washing up, with a utility room that holds fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. We definelty will return again.

Disliked: Nothing

Local attractions

Stay at Branscombe at the beginning of August to frolic at the world-famous Sidmouth Folk Week, or mosey along to this part of Devon at any time of year to ramble and rockpool on Branscombe Mouth beach, be tempted by tasty treats in the thatched roof restaurant or take a boat out to land some mackerel and pollock for supper. Branscombe village has the Old Forge, the Old Bakery and the Norman St. Winifred Church to see, while the regency town of Sidmouth five miles to the west has a sauna, cinema, indoor pool, restaurants and gift shops as well as beaches for splashing and sunbathing. The fishing village of Beer is nearby: this sheltered beach is the spot for catching the sun’s rays, and if you don’t want to angle yourself from a boat to cast off, you can buy some fresh fish on the beach before getting on your mining helmet to explore the Beer Quarry Caves or climbing the hill (sans helmet) to the model railway exhibition and gardens at Pecorama. Cavers and trainspotters can also try the Kents Cavern Underground Caves and the South Devon Railway, both at Torquay. Devon day trips include browsing for lace in the market town of Honiton, taking a tram from Seaton along the River Axe for birdwatching at the estuary, fossil-hunting at Lyme Regis, history hunting at Exeter Cathedral and wandering the National Trust walks over Exmoor and Dartmoor. For the small fliers, Crealy Adventure Park, Paignton Zoo and Plymouth’s National Marine Aquarium should have them soaring.
