  • Coastal glamping site in private woodland on the Isle of Purbeck
  • A 15-minute drive from Corfe Castle and the Swanage Railway
  • Coast views, jetty for kayak launching and pop-up shop on site
Way to sum up Bells at Cleavel Point in a single word? ‘Wow’ should just about cover it… for this gorgeous glamping site is in a mighty fine Dorset spot right by the sea on the Isle of Purbeck, with a rare and enviable 270-degree outlook over Poole Harbour, Brownsea Island and Sandbanks. And that’s the kind of view you could settle down to stare at for quite some time, right? Feel free to do so… owner Jon and his friendly team will even enhance the experience by renting you a giant bean bag to sprawl out on and a campfire tripod so you can grill up a bit of grub to munch on while you do so – how very splendid. This scenic site is accessed through the peaceful woodlands of a private estate (you’ll be given a key code for the gate ahead of arrival) so it’s worth bringing along plenty of supplies to ensure you don’t have to haul yourselves away too often. Corfe Castle, 15 minutes’ drive away, is your nearest source of shops (plus pubs and eateries) but there’s also a pop-up shop on site with cold drinks, milk and barbecue bits (both the meat and the wood required to cook it). Smart glamping options are well spaced around the site for peaceful slumbers – they all have access to drinking water, regularly-scrubbed portable toilets and a hot shower.

Liked: Location and views Beer and pizza on site

From the manager: Soooooo.. You were seen practicing stretch exercise before you went to bed. The bed in your tent was brand new... In fact your family all had new beds. The double cost £185.00. Ribbed/baffled and guaranteed. So again.... You did not read description. With a bad back you book a tent. With an airbed. Even though it's one of the most expensive beds you can buy...you blame us for your bad back. Yes not water. There is a sink to wash your hands. Tents in a field??? Noise.... Please. It's 285gsm cotton. Work it out for yourself. You are in a tent. Not a brick house. Goal posts are at the top of the field. You did not ask because you were too busy drinking.!!!. Jon.😎

Bell tent

Liked: Pitch surface is fairly big and the tents are far enough apart for confort. Site has adequate facilities and is well equipped for the average camper. Good food on site as well. Staff was very friendly, approachable and reachable. Loved their friendly, intelligent, well behaved dogs!

Bell tent

Liked: If I could give zero stars I would toilets and showers were portaloo's hot water kept blowing out in the shower absolutely nothing that was offered on the site webpage including books kayak hire pretty much everything was not available and the excuse was they hadn't been aware that they were on the webpage extremely basic bell tent no bedding had to pay extra for a tripod for the fire pit to have a bbq considering we had already overpaid for what I would consider extremely basic and definitely not glamping more wild camping 🏕️🏕️ disappointed 😞😞😞

From the manager: Hi. Unfortunately this family did not read the description by Pitchup. Arrived with no bedding. No cooking equipment/utensils we gave them bedding. And a tripod foc. Even additional equipment. Located them with a stunning view. They had their own shower/toilet during their stay which,as usual both cleaned regularly. Just not prepared for camping... Dissapointed as we helped you as much as possible.... Please read descriptions in the future. Kind regards Jon.

Local attractions

You may possibly decide simply to stay put for the duration of your stay but it really is worth getting out to see a bit more of your splendid Purbeck surrounds. Start by getting a feel for coast and countryside by bringing along kayaks to launch from the site’s jetty, or heading out on walking or mountain bike trails around the peninsula. Once you’ve pottered locally, set out for some of the area’s other pretty spots: perhaps the famed ruins of Corfe Castle (15 minutes’ drive), the nature reserve and stunning beaches at Studland Bay (20 minutes), the fossil-foraging beach at Kimmeridge (half an hour) or the huge stone arch at Durdle Door (40 minutes). Something for the kids (and the big kids)? Try a steam-hauled ride on the Swanage Railway (15 minutes), floating inflatable madness at Dorset Adventure Park (15 minutes), rural animal-spotting at Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park, watching the apes in action at Monkey World or wandering among the military heavyweights at The Tank Museum (all half an hour).
