  • Well-located adults-only Dorset touring park near the A35
  • Poole Quay, Corfe Castle and Monkey World within 20 minutes' drive
  • Dogs welcome; Lytchett Matravers pubs and shops a mile away
Have a look at this for a conveniently located place to stay in the Dorset countryside – Huntick Farm Caravan Park is only a little way off the A35, the main road running across the county, and it’s a mere mile from the shops and pubs in Lytchett Matravers. Not that it’s all about the location, handy though it is… this is a site that’s surrounded by lovely views and offers a warm welcome and helpful service to all its guests. It’s an adults-only setup here, but dogs are welcome and provided with a designated exercise area for a proper stretch of the paws. There are plenty of dog-friendly pubs and attractions nearby too, so they’ll be able to join you on your outings – just ask on site for tips. Dogs will need to be kept on a lead at all times on site, however, because it’s not just human guests that like to come along here – the park is also popular with passing wildlife like deer, badgers, buzzards and hedgehogs, so the owners are keen to make sure they’re not disturbed. Facilities at Huntick Farm have been well thought out to make life easy for guests – you’ll have access to a launderette and drying room, a washing-up area, a wifi connection, chemical disposal and bathrooms with toilets and showers. Poole (15 minutes' drive) is your nearest large town for anything you can't get in Lytchett Matravers.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch (super)

Liked: Very pleasant site - beautiful views - immaculate showers and toilets. We chose this site as it was a 5 minute drive from home. We just wanted to do 1 night as a shakedown to make sure everything was working after the winter so didn’t venture outside the campsite. Very peaceful site. Would definitely use again.

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked: Shower and toilet block, clean and nice hot showers. Location rural and peaceful. Hosts very friendly.

Disliked: Pitches very muddy due to awful weather recently. The field we were moved to due to flooding was very exposed to high winds making 4 restless nights. Drying room out of order. This was essential due to consistant rain. A gate in the fence would have created a short cut to toilet block and prevented getting soaked walking around. Access to a freezer for freeze blocks 24 hours would have been useful rather than just reception hours.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately we have suffered a very wet winter and spring so far, all pitches are muddy due to this, however the hardstanding pitch you were upgraded to was a better option that the camping field which was sodden. We apologise for the dryer being out of order, we will address this in due course. Additionally we will look into a solution for access to freezer blocks outside of office hours. Kind Regards Huntick Farm Caravan Park

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked: Grass pitch’s were waterlogged and the wardens had upgraded us to handstanding fully serviced pitch which overlooked the field it was a lovely pitch Weather was dreadful for the first four days and the storm hit resulting in our awning being lifted by wind whilst we were out thank goodness for the wardens who took it down for us and stored it with the flooring in the dry The shower facilities were spotlessly clean and warm The wardens went out of their way to help us with any problems we had and because of this and the peacefulness of the site in the middle of wooded area I would recommend the site Poole and Bournemouth are within 20-30 minute drive away and the local pub in the village offers good hospitality and excellent food

Disliked: The mud lol but that was down to the weather and beyond the control of the site and wardens

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch (super)

Liked: Excellent welcome on arrival and shown to our pitch by the very helpful owner. Good, clean facilities including excellent showers and washing up area with lots of hot water. Nice views from the site and we had a lovely sunset over the Purbeck Hills. Good walks from the site, and very dog-friendly. Excellent location for exploring this lovely area. Deer and lots of birdlife on the site. It was our inaugural trip in our new camper van and it was the perfect place for trying out everything.

Disliked: The heating didn't seem to be working in the toilets and shower area. Apart from that it was great.

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us and thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We apologise for the lack of heat in the toilet/shower block, we will endeavour to rectify this as soon as possible. Many thanks.

Local attractions

Dorset is, of course, well known for its gorgeous landscapes – and it should be pretty easy to check out some of the top spots from here. Both the atmospheric ruins of Corfe Castle and the sparkling waters of the Blue Pool are about 20 minutes' drive away, or you could set off to the coast for a day at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door (half an hour). If you fancy a bit of activity among this scenery, perhaps play a round at Bulbury Woods Golf Club (five minutes) or have a go at the madcap floating assault course at Dorset Adventure Park (20 minutes). For more leisurely strolls, board a boat at Poole Quay (15 minutes) for a wildlife trail around Brownsea Island, wander around the National Trust’s Kingston Lacy estate (15 minutes) or set off to see birds at Abbotsbury Swannery (45 minutes). Don’t write off Dorset’s favourite family attractions either – places like Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (20 minutes), The Tank Museum (25 minutes) and the Swanage Railway (half an hour) have plenty to offer for grownup days out.
