Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (six person)

Liked: What a beautiful and peaceful site. No overcrowding (even on bank holiday) and clean, well stocked facilities. The fishing pond was the icing on the cake. The owners are cheerful and helpful and always on hand. We will definitely be returning.

Disliked: Don’t miss the turning…. It’s behind the petrol station but not signposted.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (two person)

Liked: Greeted by the owner who was friendly and showed the amenities on site. Pitch was a good size and there is a local garage for bits and pieces.

Disliked: Road slightly noisy but that’s due to the wind direction and how quiet the pitch field was.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (two person)

Liked: The owner was friendly, level pitch, clean toilets and showers with hot water, well stocked garage shop next door

Disliked: The owner was friendly although he never gave me or my mate who also booked a pitch our change even if it was only 75p and 50p, the site gets a lot of road noise late into the night which was a bit annoying when your tired and trying to sleep, we didn't get a choice of pitches either so we could choose where we wanted to be, we were just shown to an area cut amongst the long grass, we had a pitch right next to us with two indian families with young children who were noisy played indian music for hours which was driving us nuts,so to drown out the din we put on our own, one of their children screamed his lungs out all night long into the early hours, my friend packed up and left a day early as he'd had a gut full of them, sorry to say we wouldn't stay at this site again as we went to get away from all noise and worries after my recent bad diagnosis, unfortunately only to leave more tired then when we arrived.

From the manager: Hi Kevin Thank you very much for taking the time out to write an informative review. We pride ourselves on our toilet/showers as we realise this is an important factor for our guests. It was a very busy and we apologise about forgetting to give you your change. We understand these are very difficult times and what a financial loss this amount can be. If you can let us have your bank details we will gladly transfer you the £0.75 and £0.50. In response to the Indian families next to you, Carl does say if you have a problem with anything including noisy campers please give him a call or knock on our door, that is why we are on duty 24/7. And if we do not know about the problem we cannot resolve it Carl, Steph, Elaine & Graham

From the manager: Hi Thank you for your review. I think we have all suffered with this bad weather and we have to make decisions as to whether we advise people to arrive in such bad conditions. On the other hand we do not want to disappoint people and cancel their holidays, so we try and communicate with them so they can make their own decision. Hopefully the sun will shine soon and we will see you again Carl,Steph, Graham & Elaine

Local attractions

Take a detour into the animal world for a little while… there are several animal-orientated activities within reach of the site, including the family-friendly Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park (45 minutes’ drive) for hands-on farm activities and the Bush Farm Bison Centre (15 minutes), home to bison and elk and woodland walks. On a bigger scale, Longleat (half an hour) has a drive-through safari packed with wild animals. However, it has more than just animals – there’s also an adventure park and over at Longleat House (35 minutes), you can ogle over an Elizabethan house through tours, exhibitions and walks around the formal and pleasure gardens. There are more trips into history at hand too, whether it’s inside Old Wardour Castle (20 minutes), Stourhead’s mansion and landscaped gardens (20 minutes) or Stonehenge (45 minutes). If you want energy-packed afternoons instead, the New Forest National Park (50 minutes) and its hiking and cycling trails may be worth the little longer drive. There are opportunities for watersports in Bournemouth (an hour) or a scenic coastal walk at Durdle Door (an hour) on the Jurassic Coast.
