  • Stylish County Antrim glamping with spectacular glen and sea views
  • Glenariff Forest Park 15 minutes’ drive; Cushendall Beach 10 minutes
  • Luxury lodges with private gardens; shops and pubs five minutes’ drive
For simply spectacular views over the Moyle Sea and the hills and glens of County Antrim, grab yourself one of the smart lodges at Glens Glamping. High on a hillside in scenic Glen Ballyeamon, the pods sit in the shadow of Arthurs Hill and allow guests to see across Glenariff, Lurigethan and Red Bay – with the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland appearing on the horizon when the weather is clear. And those staggering views are just the start of what’s good about this place. The lodges have got it all happening on the inside too, with a stylish design, fully equipped kitchen, hot water in the ensuite power shower and proper mattresses on proper double beds. The living area has a TV for lazy (or possibly rainy) days, as well as cosy sofa seating that doubles as another bed. Back outside again, each unit has an exclusive-use terrace with picnic tables and seating, giving you another chance to take in your surroundings – and for a festival-type vibe, fairy lights pretty the place up after dark. Stock up on goodies from the shops in the pretty seaside village of Cushendall (five minutes’ drive); if cooking on your holiday doesn’t really appeal, there are plenty of inviting pubs there too.

Local attractions

If you’d like to get out exploring this scenic corner of County Antrim, don the hiking boots and strike out along the Inver River Gorge to the three dramatic waterfalls in Glenariff Forest Park (15 minutes’ drive). For an easy family-friendly stroll, try the wooded riverside path through Glenariff (45 minutes’ walk) and reward yourselves with a cuppa at the tearooms in Waterfoot (15 minutes). Glenarm Castle and Gardens (25 minutes’ drive) is the place for a nose around an elegant stately home and formal gardens, while stone ruins at The Hidden Village of Galboly (15 minutes) give an insight into a more recent period of Irish history. This once-thriving farming community was abandoned during the 1950s, and now is better known as a film location for ‘Game of Thrones’. For days dipping in and out of the waves, Cushendall Beach (10 minutes ) is wrapped into a sheltered bay, with caves to explore at its southern end and a small play park for the kids if they need to run off any more energy. Golfing-mad adults can also play a round or two on Cushendall Golf Club, which backs onto the beach for gorgeous views while you play.
