  • Well-maintained tent site with spectacular views over Strangford Lough
  • Downpatrick 20 minutes' drive; Belfast city centre 35 minutes
  • Direct access to Strangford Lough Cycle Trail; modern kitchen space
Quarterland Bay Campsite is a welcoming site in County Down, right on the splendid shores of Strangford Lough. Spectacular waterside views can be seen all over at this well-maintained tents-only spot, with direct access to the Strangford Lough Cycle Trail as an added bonus for cyclists. This area has much to offer swimmers too, who can head to Ballymorran Bay (10 minutes' walk) for open-air exercise in stunning surrounds. (Got a wetsuit? Pack it, as these waters tend to be on the chillier side). Kayakers, canoeists and folks with paddleboards will also find ample opportunities to spend time on the water in the surrounding area; the sheltered waters of Quarterland Bay (a few minutes' walk) makes this a great spot to launch your craft. The pitches at this simple site are well-maintained and spacious, with access to modern facilities including toilets, hot showers and a nifty shared kitchen space for camp cooking. Barbecues and campfires are also welcome if you're up for cooking and eating out of doors. Quarterland Bay Campsite is about two and a half miles from the villages of Killinchy and Balloo (where there is a pub). Killyleagh Castle's pretty towers are a 10-minute drive away, while the larger town of Downpatrick is 20 minutes away by road.
