  • Loughside site set over 55 green acres in County Fermanagh
  • On the shores of Upper Lough Erne, a 10-minute drive from Lisnaskea
  • More than 30 land and water-based activities to try out on site
The clue is in the name with this one: Share Discovery Village is all about getting people together in a place with heaps of adventure and chucking them in at the deep end (sometimes literally). In all, there are more than 30 thrilling possibilities to try out here, from the relaxing to the artsy to the downright daft. (Fancy whizzing over the lough aboard a giant inflatable banana? This could be the place for you…) Trees around this leafy site provide shaded corners for when the weather is fine, and Upper Lough Erne is a stunning place to watch the sun go down at the end of the day. At peak times, a bar is on hand for socialising, and there's a TV room, play area and pool tables should you find yourself at a loose end. This site's a particularly practical spot for visitors with disabilities: all of the facilities have been built with guests' accessibility needs in mind. Share Discovery Village is also a charity that works for social inclusion, giving a further boost to this site's feel-good factor. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs and barbecues. Those venturing off-base will likely want to stop by in Lisnaskea (10 minutes' drive), either for handy amenities like the supermarket or a poke around the ancient monastic ruins.

Local attractions

Fermanagh is castle country: keep your eyes peeled for turrets, towers and follies galore as you roam these parts. Head to the Enniskillen Castle Museums (20 minutes' drive) to check out the town's impressive fortress, or make tracks for the rugged ruins at the nearby Crom Estate (15 minutes), a National Trust-managed property. The Fermanagh Lakelands are home to reed-fringed rivers and loughs that are prime spots for strolls. The site has its own walking trail, but serious hikers should head out to the Lisnaskea Country Walk (15 minutes) or Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail (30 minutes). Angling folk are also well catered for hereabouts: pack your rod and drive 20 minutes to Lisnaskea Forest if it's brown trout and peaceful times you seek. The kids may well enjoy a jaunt to the Marble Arch Caves (half an hour), home to an underground boat trip that guides visitors through a maze of dazzling rock formations and other watery splendours. Venturing further afield towards the Lower Lough (which, slightly confusingly, is actually to the north of the Upper Lough), grownups might fancy sampling somewhat stronger liquids at The Boatyard Distillery (40 minutes).
