  • Peaceful two-bedroom cabin with gorgeous Co. Donegal views
  • A 20-minute drive to Derry; great location for Inishowen 100 drive
  • Bathroom and kitchen included; deck with barbecue and seating
Waking up in a properly peaceful spot, then taking a peek out of the window to be greeted by glorious landscapes stretching out in front of you… well, that’s a real holiday win, right? The gorgeous Co. Donegal landscapes you’ll be looking at from Inch View Cabin are those of Inch Island and Lough Swilly – and the peace is pretty much guaranteed too at this lovely spot tucked away on Scalp Mountain in Tooban. Guest privacy is all part of the deal here, so it makes a great spot for a quiet getaway. Who you choose to share this place with is up to you – the cosy cabin has a double bedroom and a single, so it’s suitable for couples with or without a child, pairs of pals or solo travellers seeking a bit of scenic solitude. The rest of the layout includes a living/dining area, a kitchen (with cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster) and a shower room. And you won’t have to limit yourselves to looking at the views through the window, either, as the cabin opens on to a decked outdoor area with seating and barbecue – just the place to settle with a drink and some nibbles to survey your surroundings (supplies available at the shop and takeaways in Burnfoot, less than five minutes’ drive away). Need to see more of that scenery? Inch View Cabin is in prime position for exploring the Inishowen 100 drive, a stunningly scenic route around the Inishowen Peninsula. Wild Ireland and Burt Castle are within a 10-minute drive too, or you can nip over the border to Derry/Londonderry in about 20 minutes.

Local attractions

A tour of the Inishowen 100 route is pretty much a must, whether you drive it or take bikes out. The 100-mile route takes in some of the most spectacular scenery this area has to offer, including places like Buncrana beach (10 minutes’ drive), Glenevin Waterfall (35 minutes) and the Doagh Famine Village (40 minutes). A little closer to home, you might like to visit the atmospheric ruins of Burt Castle or the native animals of Wild Ireland (both 10 minutes), or take a drive/cycle over to Inch Island to go birdwatching and see more closely the scenery you’ve spotted from the cabin window. Although the natural landscapes are gorgeous in this area, it’s also worth taking some time in the city of Derry/Londonderry (20 minutes), to walk the city walls, cross the Peace Bridge and visit the Museum of Free Derry. There are several nice places to eat in the city too, and it's even better if you can manage to catch one of the Walled City Markets.
