  • Small countryside park close to the Ayrshire coast
  • With heated indoor pool, sauna and spa
  • Restaurant and bar with live music and entertainment
Close to the coast and deep in countryside parkland, Turnberry Holiday Park also looks out to the tiny crag of Ailsa Craig, an RSPB sanctuary accommodating puffins, peregrines and great numbers of gannets (Scottish seabird islands are one of our very favourite Pitchup.com things.) Away from the noisy gannets, Turnberry is a small and peaceful park near the seaside town of Girvan. As is always welcome so far north, it has a heated indoor pool (open throughout the park's holiday period) free for guests to use, a small sauna and a spa. Turnberry also has a play area and a restaurant and bar with live music and entertainment in the evenings. Restaurants, shops and supermarkets and a sandy beach are at Girvan a few miles away.

Local attractions

To Ailsa Craig first, of course.. this well-known Ayrshire landmark was once quarried for granite to make curling stones and is now a nature reserve and bird sanctuary. (It's also on the market for about a million and a half quid if you have some spare cash under the mattress.) Birds here to see include guillemots, kittiwakes and razorbills alongside the puffins and the 36,000 or so gannets: get to the reserve by boat from Girvan in the summer months or by speedy RIB from Campbeltown. Sporty sorts have the well-regarded Turnberry Golf Club nearby – naturally, it's highly scenic – and the year-round entertainment and action of Ayr Racecourse within easy reach.
