  • Wild-style camping at a Perthshire wildlife centre
  • A 15-minute drive to Crieff, Drummond Castle and Loch Earn
  • Guest tickets for unlimited entry to the park, café and play area
Ever fancied bedding down among a menagerie of meerkats, lemurs, goats, pigs, donkeys and a whole lot of other entertaining animals? Well, here’s your chance at Auchingarrich Wildlife Park. Of course, you won’t be actually pitching up in the animal pens – there’s a lovely wild-camping-style paddock set aside for guests, with great views over the ponds and the surrounding Perthshire countryside. You will, however, be able to buy tickets giving you unlimited access to the main wildlife park during the day, so you can pop in and meet the animals whenever you wish, spend some time in the soft play barn or let off some steam at the outdoor play area, the mini golf or the ride-on tractors. The wildlife park has a café that’s open during the day for mains, snacks, hot drinks and sweet treats (along with a kids’ menu and ice creams too), but guests are also welcome to use the campsite’s barbecue area for outdoor meals. Comrie and Crieff are both about 10 minutes’ drive away for supplies if you’re self catering. There’s plenty of space at this site, so kids can run about and families can play games; dogs are welcome too, but will need to be kept under control and on a lead at all times. In keeping with the wild-style vibe you’ll have access to compost toilets but please note there are no showers. You can hire firepits if you’d like to have a campfire evening.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Great park with such an amazing range of animals. Plenty of room in field for large tent and gazebo. Super friendly staff and very helpful.

Disliked: These aren’t dislikes….just suggestions. Grass could do with a cut in the top field. Maybe a later check out time. (I know you can also arrive early, but I would rather set up later and leave later)

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: This place exceeded our expectations! Camping site in Auchingarrich is only a small addition to a nearly full-size zoo and multiple playgrounds for children. On top of that, absolutely stunning scenery surrounds the place. Suggest you book a two-day visit to fully enjoy.

Disliked: Nothing really. Would be great to add a few more fireplaces on the camping site.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lots of space for large tent. Great views. The park was fantastic with lots to do. So many different kinds of animals and wildlife. This place is great for families and adults. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Lots of areas away from the main animal enclosures to take the dog a walk.

Disliked: The road up to the top field (next to pigs) was extremely muddy and slippery after the rain. The structure around the toilet felt like it was going to collapse when opening or closing the door. Another toilet wouldn’t go a miss.

Liked: Me and my Family are just back from camping here from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon, with there being a big group of us and a lot of kids to try and entertain we were a bit sceptical about going camping but from the minute we got here from the minute we left we had so much fun!! Plenty to do, lots of animals to see and just an overall lovely place. The staff were so friendly (especially the man who drops off the fire wood to you in his little buggy thing) and they made us feel welcome and most importantly safe!! We’re already planning our next camping trip here and we can’t wait!🏕️

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Absolutely amazing wildlife/camping park, we booked as a last minute night away camping and so glad we did, the place is beautiful and the wildlife park is great so much do to and see . The price for staying here was also very reasonable, all the staff where super friendly especially Kev the manger who went above and beyond with little extras for us like the camp fire, fire wood, marshmallows for the kids letting the kids ride in the golf buggy he made the stay that wee bit more special for us, and nothing was to much for him. We will definitely be back and looking forward to it already!

Disliked: Nothing the whole place was great

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Location, and ability to walk around wildlife park after closing, our kids would've absolutely loved it when younger.

Disliked: Minimal facilities, needs more flat pitch areas as is all sloped. Could do with being stepped.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The place is a secret slice of Scottish loveliness! The staff were kind, warm and helpful. There are many animals and even an opportunity to hold some! The kids loved this. The park is really good too, there are go karts and a nerf battle in the forest! Overall the site is incredible and I’d highly recommend it.

Disliked: No shower.

Local attractions

Once you've met the animals on site, how about taking off to see some native wildlife? The big birds might be the main attraction at Argaty Red Kites (35 minutes’ drive), but you can also spot things like roe deer and red squirrels as well as seeing what you can see from the bird hides. Some time exploring the scenery should be on the cards too – perhaps a waterside stroll at Loch Earn (15 minutes’ drive, and also home to a good watersports centre), a woodland wander to reach Doune Castle (half an hour) or a steep climb up Callander Crags (45 minutes). Drummond Castle Gardens (15 minutes) is also a good spot for green-fingered types. If the kids are in the mood for more activity, take them along to Action Glen (15 minutes) for days of quad biking, segway riding and scrambling along treetop trails. And if you’ve not got the kids? Well, there’s always the Glenturret Distillery (15 minutes)…
