  • Secluded campsite in the stunning parklands of Scone Palace
  • A 10-minute drive from Perth’s centre and Kinnoull Hill Woodland Park
  • Easy access to riverside trails, cycle paths and scenic walks
Nestled in the scenic parklands of Scone Palace at the country's most northerly race track, Perth Racecourse Motorhome and Caravan Park is in a prime position for exploring Perth and beyond. With 40 pitches currently available, the site offers a peaceful place to park up and enjoy the best of the local area and beyond. Offering the best of both worlds, the site is close enough to the town centre (a short 10 minute drive) for speedy access to cultural highlights, independent shops and cafes, while still in the countryside to enjoy quiet strolls and beautiful views. Start adventures from this safe and peaceful site in central Scotland at Scone Palace, a first-rate example of Georgian Gothic architecture made from red sandstone bricks with a castellated roof. One of the country’s key stately homes, it’s been the seat of Scottish parliaments and the place where kings – including Macbeth and Robert the Bruce – were once crowned. Its past is apparent in all the antiques, art and rare bits and bobs on display inside. And while the interior and objects are easy on the eye, so are the surrounding parklands, which link up to riverside walks, cycle trails and country roads for dawdles with the dog (pets are allowed on site). Curious about how the palace's grounds are cultivated? Join a tour with the head gardener (ask for info at The Lodge at Perth Racecourse) and look forward to being guided around horticultural highlights like the Murray Star Maze and the Laburnum Walkway. If you fancy a day out closer to Perth, wander amid the trees on the paths at Kinnoull Hill Woodland Park or have a go on the green at the North Inch Golf Course (both 10 minutes from the site).

Local attractions

Visiting Perth is, of course, a must when at this site – it’s not known as the 'Fair City’ for nothing. Head 10 minutes by car into the centre to admire art by John Duncan Fergusson in the Fergusson Gallery, soak up the history at the Black Watch Museum and browse the independent shops. The site is also in a prime position for exploring further afield. Dunkeld (35 minutes) is just the place for fawning over a finely kept cathedral and exploring the geological Highland Boundary Fault before taking in the stunning scenery of the Scottish Highlands. For adrenaline junkies, there’s also bungee jumping and quad biking at Pitlochry (50 minutes), a quaint town also home to a whisky distillery for sampling a dram or two. Other places to add to the itinerary include; the enchanting Branklyn Garden (10 minutes), currently ablaze with vibrant autumn hues, a forrest walk among the towering Douglas firs at The Hermitage (40 minutes), explore the classic Scots market town of Crieff (40 minutes) and a trip to the Z-plan Elcho Castle (25 minutes) - one of Scotland’s better-preserved tower houses.
