  • Dog-friendly site; pubs five minutes’ drive
Can’t decide whether to holiday in Scotland or England? Coldstream Holiday Park is situated just above the banks of the River Tweed, which forms a natural boundary between the two countries. No need to make a decision, then, as you can visit both countries in one day. Near the historic town of Coldstream, the site has views all the way to the Cheviot Hills and you can see the Eildon Hills on clear days. It is a handy, dog-centric base for walking and cycling in Berwickshire countryside, with a golf course within five minutes’ drive, and fishing (in season) on the Tweed. Whether you’re heading further north into the Scottish Highlands, or using the holiday park as your main base, this well-equipped and family-friendly site offers facilities including an architect-designed heated amenities block with toilets and showers. There’s a launderette and washing-up area too so you can keep everybody and everything clean and shiny. Source bits and bobs for meals and barbecues in Coldstream convenience stores, or visit the town’s pubs, restaurants and takeaways if your idea of being on holiday does not involve any cooking at all.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Views are stunning, facilities very clean and disabled access. Beautiful walks from campsite by river tweed. Close to shops, golf course 30 secs down the road.

Disliked: Fire alarm went off in disabled facilities after using shower for 2 mins. couldn't get a hold of night watchman or reception. Took 30 mins for it to be turned off and even then it was turned off remotely.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Bathrooms were immaculate Staff were so kind - they phoned to check when we’d arrive, answered a fire alarm promptly and were open to suggestions about managing mud (we visited in an absolute downpour. Everyone we met in Coldstream was lovely and even though we had what was, objectively, a horrible situation with the rain and mud we left on a high.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Clear and logical layout of site. New and well maintained amenities block. Friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly. EHU and grey waste on every touring pitch, water point every other pitch. Close to lots of places to visit - Berwick upon Tweed, Holy Island, Flodden Field - with places like Alnwick or Edinburgh close enough for a day trip. Great views and walks. Within walking distance of Coldstream - local shops, pubs, museum, garages, petrol station. Free WiFi, and consistently available (off season visit)

Disliked: Nothing

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Walking distance to Coldstream.

Disliked: Only 2 showers (each) which tended to flood floor a little which wasn't mopped. This is not site bit other campers which is a shame as the site is very well kept. There is a free standing shower/toilet/sink each behind shower block, but the female one was constantly locked bit no one seemed to be in? No WiFi

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Jackie for taking the time to leave your review ... We do offer 3 showers (each) with 2 other units behind for overflow guests ... Our amenities are cleaned and mopped twice daily with checks in between, we also leave cleaning products and buckets and mops for guests to leave the units as they found them ... We do have free WIFI on park which can easily be found as 'Coldstream Guest', sorry you had missed that ... All the best from the team @ Coldstream ...

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great site- second time here and another planned during Civic Week again later on this year, friendly staff and the facilities are spotless. The pitch sizes are brilliant for larger tents and porches, and the relaxed feel about the place is great( we like a bit of music as we noticed with other campers- keep the volume respectful and it's not a problem as far as we noticed). Nice walks, and the High Street and friendly pubs a short dander away

Disliked: None....seen a few negative comments regarding no tarmac and lack of activities for kids. Newsflash- it's a new site that's still in its growth, so bear that I'm mind

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks so much Karl ... See you in Civic week! From all the team @ CHP ...

Local attractions

Coldstream (five minutes’ drive) has much to offer in the way of history. This border town changed hands between the English and Scots many times over the centuries and is now home to informative military history displays in Coldstream Museum. It’s also home to the Hirsel Estate, with lakeside dog walks, lovely gardens to wander around, and craft shops where you can pick up some souvenir tartan. A little further afield you’ll come across a series of austere ruined castles, including Twizel (10 minutes), Norham and Etal (both 20 minutes), all once responsible for keeping English bandits out of Scotland. The romantic and remote remains of Dryburgh Abbey (half an hour) are also worth a visit – especially at dusk when they have a haunting beauty. On the English side of the border, drive across the causeway to Holy Island (40 minutes, check tide times) to see art deco Lindisfarne Castle (45 minutes), or head to Bamburgh (40 minutes) to spend the day on its extensive sandy beach. At Alnwick Castle (50 minutes), kids can explore the poison gardens, spot Harry Potter film locations and take broomstick-riding lessons.
