  • Dog-friendly site on a working farm in Rhos on Sea
  • A 25-minute walk from the beach and a 10-minute drive from Llandudno
  • Surrounded by country walks and a short walk from pubs and a shop
Country walks, pub lunches and buckets full of beach trips… to list out every single thing you have to look forward to at Dinarth Hall Caravan and Camping would take some time, as this North Wales site is very conveniently based in the town of Rhos on Sea, 10 minutes’ drive from Llandudno and five minutes’ drive away from Colwyn Bay Beach. If you’re very much a countryside sort of person, it’ll be nice news that the site is on a working farm setting surrounded by fields and country walks with horses frequently passing by the site. There are just basic facilities, including toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a washing machine and dryer for laundry. There’s a lovely country pub just half an hour’s walk away for your supper or an American diner-style restaurant 10 minutes’ walk away in the other direction. If you’d rather sort yourself out, have a wander up the hill to the small shop 10 minutes’ walk away. The bus, which stops at the end of the road, comes just over every 10 minutes if you feeling like abandoning the car for the weekend. Not that you’ll need it that much if you’ve got beach days at the top of your agenda, because it’s only a 25-minute walk to Rhos on Sea beach and Colwyn Bay Beach is also within walking distance. If you’re driving to Colwyn Bay, there’s plenty of parking (and lots of ice cream vans to go with that). You may want to shift your watersports gear or bicycles down there, as there’s a cycling path along the front and often great conditions for some water activities.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Access to horses was fabulous. Dogs on leads (apart from those that live in the big house that bit my tiny pooch) Pizza van Very friendly lady on reception that did everything on site too - she deserves a day off! Small play area Very muddy and watching big tractor pull cars off the field where they’d been told not to park in the first instance Roaming chickens

Disliked: Dogs from the large house running around barking and bit my dog Standing in the pizza queue listening to the ‘professionals’ on site discussing a colleagues personal mental health in a public forum Large bins need emptying Gets busy with cars up and down the track

From the manager: Hello, Was the incident with the dogs reported as I was not made aware of this and would have taken this very seriously? Also, I can only assume your comment regarding ‘professionals in the pizza queue’ was myself and my colleague who were in fact, not working that night, but were ordering pizza for the other staff including Zoe, the lovely lady on reception. Our private conversation regarding his mental health did not need to be documented on here along with the picture of us and if this is something you would like to use against our site as a negative, thats no problem, but would kindly ask you not to return given the long list of negative comments, Thanks

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Amazing site, with the option to park where you like (non-electric) Loved how campers and campervans can pitch together in the same field. You do drive through the farm to get to the fields the other side. Perfect location if your heading to Llandudno town centre which is about 1.5 hours walk. There is also a bus that picks you up from the main road every 10/15 mins

Disliked: Nothing to dislike really. Only thing would be the mud, when it’s rained the fields can be super slippy. Don’t worry though, if you get stuck there are tractors on hand to help pull you out if needed.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Read mixed reviews, but we like to decide for ourselves. Not disappointed, we have a VW with drive away awning and had plenty of room all around. Experience helps picking a flat raised pitch, a lot struggled with getting stuck in the mud, can't help the weather but the farmer was ready to help a with tractor. Facilities are quaint but in keeping with a working farm and were clean and tidy. Access to local area and Snowdon, which was our main event was spot on. Everyone we met was polite and helpful. Overall we were very happy, locally is well serviced and animals are a must to take away the stress. Would definitely return.

Disliked: Nothing really, weather is the weather!

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Easy of booking and small animals on farm

Disliked: We arrived to a very disorganised reception with no system in place. Told to go to a field and choose a plot! No organisation of where to go in the field, no sites marked out or labelled for use. Not made aware of the fact the field we were guided to was very very wet and given the forecast rain was going to get wetter. It felt like the farmer had simply opened his field normally used for live stock into a field for tents and campers leading to a large number of people arriving and plonking themselves anywhere. We chose to leave at 800 the next morning having had a night of rain and knowing the ground was wet and even with no one else having left, the ground was wet and slippery so I dread to think how it may have been later in the day after comings and goings. The facilities, although I have to say we’re clean, were not enough for the volume of people on site, we chose not to stay and use the showers but looking at the size of the building along with the number of people on site would not have been adequate. All in all it felt like the care was not there and had there been any issues whilst on site it would have been difficult to get any help.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Location to Llandudno being very close

Disliked: Unfortunately I think they should not of opened and due to continuous poor weather the site was waterlogged and a mud pit , the grass was chewed up everywhere and some where at least 10 inches deep ,because of it being a working farm it stunk from entrance right through to caravan park. We have been to this site for around 5 years and will not go back again, everything was covered in mud and made it a complete nightmare.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The staff friendliness was unmatched, super approachable, helped me out massively when my van got stuck and also allowed me the use of their hose pipe to fill my water tank. Stunning scenery from our pitch and it was very quiet and peaceful.

Disliked: Not the sites fault but worth a mention, because of the rain the site was very boggy which meant my van got stuck twice. However they gave us the choice whether we wanted to stay or not, we took the risk. To avoid being in a very boggy spot, we ended up at the back of the field which meant a far way away from toilets. The grass seemed a little long too, this may have helped the fields bogginess.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: It’s seemed like lovely little working farm, and the staff was very helpful (would have helped us tow the car onto the pitch). Close to Llandudno. If the pitch was dry and solid, it would be good value for money.

Disliked: It was extremely muddy, and we had already got stuck in the mud once, so we didn’t want to chance it and decided to drive home. From what we saw, the toilets and showers were quite a walk from the pitch.

Local attractions

Llandudno (10 minutes’ drive) is a cracking spot for a good wander, with shops, a pier, a promenade and a beach. You may spot a few goats wandering around the edge of town; they’ll have lost their way from Great Orme (20 minutes) just past Llandudno. The green limestone slopes of the Great Orme are not just for the goats, of course, with a tramway and a cable car providing access to the fab views from the 209-metre slope, a café or a playground. Back in Llandudno, get picked up by one of the open-top buses which run in summer from Llandudno Pier. They head over to stunning Conwy (10 minutes’ drive), past the spectacular 13th-century Conwy Castle, cobbled streets, bakeries and the cobbled streets typical of such a traditional Welsh port town.
