  • Adults-only glamping pod with hot tub on the outskirts of Conwy
  • West Shore Beach 15 minutes’ drive; Blaenau Ffestiniog 45 minutes
  • Kingsize bed with skylight window for stargazing; garden with firepit
For a romantic break complete with decadent prosecco-drinking sessions under the stars in your private hot tub, you might want to book a place – stat – at Cwt y Gwenyn, an adults-only site on a farm a five-minute drive (or a half-hour walk) from the historic market town of Conwy, in north Wales. You’ll be staying in a spacious, modern pod, where you can stretch out (or snuggle up) on the handmade kingsize bed (there is a skylight window above the bed for stargazing); or luxuriate in the ensuite shower room (with heated towel rail, toilet and sink) after a long day’s hiking. For that additional touch of pampering elegance, owners Sion and Llinos also supply all linen and towels, plus dressing gowns and toiletries. Slippers, too – which you might not even need, since the pod has underfloor heating. Luxury all the way. You can whip up your meals in the well-equipped kitchenette, which comes with a hob, kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge (plus complimentary tea, coffee and sugar), or fire up the barbecue provided (you can purchase firewood on site). Footpaths starting from right outside the pod take you through splendid countryside and to the banks of the River Conwy. Several beaches are within a short drive, too. Sea-glass enthusiasts might find another piece for their collection at Conwy Morfa Beach (10 minutes’ drive), while sunset chasers head to Llandudno’s sandy West Shore Beach (15 minutes), which is also popular with kite-surfers.

Camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: The ‘bee hut’ was located in a very private spot in the farm. Very peaceful and relaxing. The hut is furnished beautifully with hints of the bee theme everywhere. A thoughtful basket of goodies had been left for us and fresh roses were in a vase. Outside the hot tub was brilliant tucked under a tree which kept the rain off and afterwards the huge BBQ and fire pit were used to feed us and keep us warm outside hoping the sky would clear to see some stars (sadly not our lucky night) Overall a beautiful little hideaway which we will definitely come back to.

Camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Everything was just amazing. The pod was beautiful and all done so well and professionally. The little touches such as the local cider and their own honey that they left for us was lovely. The bed was so comfy and everything was very clean. The hot tub was perfect and layout of it all worked so well and again just felt really thought out. We loved using the fire pit and having a bbq and the extra touch with the dressing gowns and slippers just made us feel like we were truly relaxing. Location is great aswell not far from many things but also far enough you feel away from it all. Good communication from the hosts throughout and I would definitely recommend! We loved it.

Camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: You cannot fault the whole experience, from the stunning views to the immaculate pod. It genuinely was one of the best glamping stays we have had. The location is breath taking and the hosts are so helpful and friendly, we asked questions about the fire pit and within minutes (after asking our permission) they were down helping us out telling us about the farm and what they do, which we personally loved! We have recommended to all our friends and family.

Local attractions

Conwy Castle, a medieval riverside fortress, is one of several highlights in Conwy. Walk on top of the town’s well-preserved defensive walls, which are punctuated by 21 towers; admire the elegant construction of the 19th-century Telford Suspension Bridge (open to pedestrians); then head to Conwy Quay for views across the river and to check out the Smallest House in Great Britain. Y Gogarth Great Orme Country Park (15 minutes’ drive) occupies the headland north of Llandudno. Take the Great Orme Tramway to the top, perhaps stopping en route at the copper mines, where you can explore a replica Bronze Age village and see a range of archaeological artefacts. Once known for its slate mining, Blaenau Ffestiniog (45 minutes) has reinvented itself as a state-of-the-art activity centre, with its open-air quarries now housing attractions like Zip World Llechwedd and hair-raising mountain-biking trails. There are also underground features, including trampoline nets and an 18-hole golf course.
