  • Friendly Eryri/Snowdonia site on the banks of the River Glaslyn
  • Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon Watkin Path five minutes' drive away
  • Beddgelert's cafés, pubs and railway station less than a mile away
What a gorgeous spot for a break in the fresh air of Eryri/Snowdonia National Park. Cae Du Campsite is on the banks of the River Glaslyn less than a mile from the pretty village of Beddgelert. Now, if you’ve heard of Beddgelert, that may well be because it’s known as something of a hub for approachable walking trails, and it’s got a Welsh Highland Railway station – and both of these elements make it a good base for exploring your surroundings. On top of that, the village has its own attraction in the form of Gelert’s Grave, and it’s got several pubs, cafés and craft shops too. The walks from Beddgelert aren’t the only options around here, of course – in fact, one of the national park’s big (literally) attractions is just up the road in the form of Yr Wyddfa/Mount Snowdon. It’ll take you about five minutes to drive to the trailhead for the Watkin Path, passing the pretty Llyn Dinas lake as you go (handy for a post-climb wild swim perhaps?) And there’s plenty more to keep you busy… including a short walk to the excellent Sygun Copper Mine, an outing to the beach in Porthmadog, an adrenaline-filled excursion to Zip World Llechwedd or history-tinged wanders around the castles of Criccieth and Caernarfon. Little bit tired after whichever outing you chose? Well, there’s plenty of space to relax back at the park, and you should hopefully sleep well in these peaceful surroundings. Wifi, a washing-up area, a launderette and bathrooms with toilets and showers are on hand to make life comfortable, and you’ll be allowed to bring a barbecue or light a campfire to finish your day in traditional camping style.

Non-electric grass tent or campervan pitch

Liked: Loved the site.. Iv been searching hi and low for a site close to snowdon.. this ticks all the boxes.. on arrival I was confronted by a friendly group of staff.. pitch was great for my tent box.. the facilities are great.. spacious showers. Hot water.. wash area. They’re a river that runs along the site. So if you’re lucky enough to be pitched there then you’ll be happy.. the site as a villiage like 5 min walk beddgelert itself.. it also as a few pubs.. visiting gelert himself.l is nice and a must.. you are also next to sygun copper mine..your 5 mins either way to snowdon walks.. the wakins and rhydd Ddu… 10 mins from llanberis and caornarfon..I will be visiting and it being my go to site for when I’m at snowdon.. things I can’t comment on. Is it being child friendly.. I didn’t bring mine.. there was kids there. And I didn’t hear of any issues.. the Wi-Fi I didn’t use.. as I’m on holiday. So it doesn’t bother me..

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We were treated with a friendly welcomed , and an informative run down of all information needed to make the most of the experience. We were provided with a really nice area to pitch, with stunning views from all areas of the camp! Facilities clearly are kept super cleaned , and a lot of water points! The fellow campers also were super friendly, and the general atmosphere was super peaceful. We were so chuffed with what we got from the experience, at a really reasonable price! We will definitely be returning!

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch (water hook-up)

Liked: So much space for us on our hard standing pitch. Fantastic location. Quiet and peaceful when we visited. 15 mins walk max to the town. Beautiful picnic areas. Many hikes from the site. Nice facilities.

Disliked: NOTHING. However could get very busy in peak times as there are so many pitches marked out. A later checkout and an off lead dog playing area would be a fantastic addition.
