Electric grass pitch

Liked: Clean site. Shower block clean

Disliked: The traffic noise can be heard. Only one shower and two toilets. No rubbish deposit so had to take it home

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for the review. I’m pleased to hear that you found the site and shower block clean. We do actually have nine showers and thirteen toilets or urinals on site. Our bin store/recycling station is located near the entrance and would’ve been shown on the site map that you were given.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The facilities were clean and modern with lovely warm showers. The games area, although a little dated was a nice added feature to keep the children entertained. The site was quiet and although we were quite near to the road, this didn't detract from the stunning views and location. Check in was quick and easy, with the site owner being helpful, friendly and even apologetic when it became apparent that our online booking had not been transferred from pitchup.com. We would definitely return and recommend this site.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The site and facilities are clean and well maintained. Great view of the hills.

Disliked: Only three showers for a large campsite is insufficient, there were queues in the morning. The site itself is not in walking distance of anywhere other than a dual carriageway.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Cleanliness of the toilets and shower block. Location to local attractions. Well kept grounds.

Disliked: Didn't affect us on this trip, but would be a real lack of toilets and showers if campsite was full.

Local attractions

Standing where the Afont Seiont river meets the Menai Strait, Caernarfon Castle (10 minutes’ drive) is a forbidding medieval fortress and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Perhaps best known as the place where Prince Charles was invested in 1969, it also houses the Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum, which explores the history of this infantry regiment. If you’re in a ‘feel the fear, but do it anyway’ mood, you can head to Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (20 minutes), where the Velocity 2 zipline stretches across a lake, allowing you to travel at speeds of up to 100mph. If you are brave enough to keep your eyes open during your flight, you can also take in splendid views of Eryri (Snowdonia). For something less hair-raising, Portmeirion (40 minutes) is a village featuring Italian-inspired pastel-coloured buildings and lush sub-tropical vegetation. Grab an ice cream from Italian gelateria Caffi’r Angel, and take a leisurely stroll through the quaint streets or along the sandy beach on the Afon Dwyryd estuary.
