  • Peaceful, spacious site with sea views in the Glamorgan countryside
  • In Wick village, 15 minutes’ drive away from Llantwit Major Beach
  • Within walking distance of trails, country pubs, a park and a shop
Scouting for a stunning place in the countryside, not too far from the South Wales coast? West Ceffyl Campsite might be just what you were hoping for… Set in the village of Wick, this site stretches over five acres of Glamorgan countryside and is surrounded by fields with wildlife such as barn owls, red kites, bunny rabbits and songbirds. It’s also only a 15-minute drive from Llantwit Major Beach, and 10 minutes from Dunraven Bay and Ogmore-by-Sea (two more stunning coastal spots). But first, get to know the owners. The site is run by Gareth and Aimee, who have pledged to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They’re not too far away if you need any questions answered. Second, check out those views. A scan through the site’s gallery will reveal the sea views across the channel towards Exmoor and Ilfracombe, as well as stunning night skies and sunrises. Dogs and families are very welcome to stay at West Ceffyl Campsite. There is a village park with swings just a five-minute walk away. Several local footpaths show the way through the surrounding countryside or towards local beaches, and have plenty of splendid spots to see along the way including Blaen y Cwm Nature Reserve, coastal waterfalls and a little wood where kids can sit in handmade willow-tree shelters or pick their own fruit off the trees. When it’s time for a meal or a round of lemonade and beers, there are three country pubs and restaurants within walking distance which serve food and drinks and host regular entertainment. Wick’s shop and post office is also a short walk away should you want to send a postcard or grab a few forgotten bits.
