Electric grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: The staff were friendly

Disliked: Very low branches to get into 'campsite'. The key code we were given via email for the electric didn't work, and reception was closed, luckily we found a unlocked electric box to use. No water facility to fill motorhome, asked receptionist and eventually could reverse motorhome down lane to fill from tap but this was only accessible until 5pm. Free roaming sheep on site which wasnt advised as we wouldnt book here with a toddler running around knowing sheep are grazing, all grass pitches no gravel, no where to empty chemical toilet. Pizza takeaway was never open in our 3 day stay (advertised as open). No signal and no WiFi. The toilets were dirty, and only a thin shower curtain for privacy. Spoke to other motorhome users that arrived, they all left the next morning due to lack of facilities for motorhome/caravan.

Stream Side non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: There were several things I loved about this site, firslty the price. A standard pitch was only £17 and for the location + the amenities I think this is a bargain. The camp is clean, well kept and in a beautiful location so I have no issue with that price. Secondly, the site had plenty of room and it was very quiet. I stayed for one night on a Thursday and the place was empty excpet for a scout group in another field and one other tent in the same field as me. Thirdly the staff were extremely friendly, they made me and my friend feel very welcome and lastly, they allow campfires! Me and my friend love having campfires but often have a hard time finding a campsite that allows them. Here, as long as its raised off the ground (fire pits are available to hire) youre welcome to have one, this was a big deal sealer for me! In all, wonderful staff, wonderful location and wonderful amenities. I will definitely be going back!

Electric grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: The view, the scenery was just breath taking, and really was in the middle of now where, so woke up to the birds and sheep

Disliked: The toilets/shower block/ washing up facilities were not very clean, didn’t appear to be Cleaned during our stay. Pitches quite small however we were the only ones there so this didn’t really matter

Stream Side non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: View

Disliked: We arrived about 7pm, we have informed reception about our arrival time, instructions where to camp was sent by email and wasn't clear enough, gate to get to the camp place was locked and we didn't get a code so we had to park our cars at the top and carry all camping equipment. That was about 5 min walk down the hill, there was no wheelbarrow available, even if we been told there is, also there was no staff to open the gate and no signal at all, so we couldn't even contact anyone. Going there We knew that we can't park car by the pitch but the distance between car and pitch was to much. We stayed 3 nights and no one from the staff even came up an spoke to us, the worse camping place we stayed so far. Toilets and shower far away and very dirty. This place is definitely not for family camping.

Local attractions

Keen on investigating south Wales' industrial heritage? Set off to Cyfarthfa Castle (20 minutes’ drive) for a mansion belonging to the Crawshays, the family who owned the old Cyfarthfa Ironworks, or head further (45 minutes) to the aristocratic Bute clan's Castell Coch, a fairytale building designed by architect William Burgess. Visitors to the area can also turn back time to the 1600s at the National Trust’s Tredegar House (50 minutes) while meandering around a Charles II-era mansion and gardens. Treat yourself to a tipple afterwards as a reward for being so cultural at the Penderyn Distillery Visitor Centre, where tastings of the famed Welsh whisky as well as chocolate-making classes can be had 25 minutes’ drive from the park. If the wild’s where you want to be, Horseshoe Falls in the Beacons is 40 minutes’ drive away for walks beside water, and the popular market towns of Crickhowell and Brecon are the same distance if you’d rather ply pretty high streets. For fab scenery a little further on, Sirhowy Valley Country Park is 50 minutes away.
